Automatic outbidding when nobody else has even bid

Hey Everybody,

What does it mean if say for instance, a $0.99 item has no bids on it, and you bid $10 and it says "outbid" automatically?

Is that dodgy?

It happened to me when I placed a bid recently.

Are you sure there was not a bid?  If you give us the title of the item we can have a look at the bidding history.

Ohhh okay.  The bid is showing now that was before mine.  It must have been hiding from me at the time, LOL.

It was most likely a proxy bid, it will increase incrementally up to the point of it's highest amount (only made visible when someone places a bid close to / or in excess of)

Maybe 2 bidders at the same. It happens.
