Automatic payment ?

I was a bit shocked last night.

I bought a christening romper set on ebay for my grandson as I noticed ebay had a code for 10% off.

That worked okay, I pushed the button to commit to buy and then up comes some competition entry thing.

So I go back to my ebay section because I want to pay but it is already showing as paid.

At no stage (that i can recall) did it ask me how I wanted to pay or ask me for my paypal login details.

This has never happened to me before.

I was going to pay via paypal anyway but I am not sure I like this auto system, I would prefer to have to log in so i know the score. I was left sitting there, wondering if there had been an ebay glitch and maybe I had not really paid.

Re: Automatic payment ?

there was a thread some time ago about this but I can't find it now - check your paypal settings in tools to make sure a gremlin hasn't  ticked the automatic payment thingy

If you are worried about whether payment has been made just log into your paypal account and look.

Re: Automatic payment ?

Yes, i did check paypal and it has gone through so that's good.

It is just I have never had auto payment happen like that on ebay before and I have made other purchases over the last few weeks. It just seemed strange it suddenly started. I will be watching carefully next time I need to buy something to see what happens!

If you go into Paypal > settings > payments > see connected sellers, you can see which sellers have auto payment set up and delete them.

I've found that on some websites I have to authorise auto payment to be able to purchase anything but I go straight into PP after the payment has been made and delete the company from the connected sellers list
