BEWARE of Global shipping program

This must be the biggest profit making rip off eBay invented. EBay decided that they can rename Australian government 10% GST to import charge so they can double triple or even quadruple it for the benefit of eBay shareholders extra dividends and you will in reality pay in return for the privilege of indemnifying the crooked sellers. EBay stating in “Global Shipping Program” information for the sellers “You're protected from negative / neutral feedback,” so forget eBay principle of protecting buyers from dishonest sellers.

Re: BEWARE of Global shipping program

I ordered a Fiat Ducato part from a UK company on ebay. Ten days later and it hasn't left the UK, but DHL delivered the package to Ebay's global shipping hub withing two days.

Ordered the same part from Slovakia and sent via DHL for about the same shipping cost. Item arrived in Australia within 4 days. Meanwhile Ebay continues to give; changes to the manifest, duplicate scans, sorting, receiving, documentation and labelling for 10 days without moving an inch. I will be making a complaint to our watchdog, the ACCC as this is absolute rubbish and the most disgusting user experience with shipping I have ever experienced. When it get close to the deadline for delivery magically the schedule changes. Ebay I vote with my feet.

Good luck with the ACCC.

The seller is, according to you, in the UK. Australian law only covers Australian REGISTERED companies.

eBay Australia is a facilitation site - they neither sell items nor are responsible for shipping.

Knock yourself out. And gently close the door when/if you leave.

Seeya! Ebay couldn't care whether you left or not. You are absolutely nothing to them and they don't even know you exist. Making idle threats is pointless, because we all know that if we check your account in 12 months time, you'll still be buying.

If you don't like the GSP, don't buy from sellers who use it. It's in your face when you click on a listing that they use it, you can't miss it. Hit the back button and look elsewhere. It's really not that hard.

As for your "watchdog", forget it. They never have, and never will, take out an overseas company. It always amazes me how quickly disgruntled buyers start spouting about reporting to the ACCC, when they really have no idea what they're on about. You're wasting your time, but if you do make a report, please come back and let us know how it goes for you.

Check the tracking on the Royal Mail site.

For some reason, the AusPost tracking site usually says that an item is waiting for international departure, while Royal Mail calls the same scan "leaving the UK" (exact time). At any rate the next scan for me after this is usually when AusPost has it, so your item could even already have cleared Customs and be in an AusPost bag waiting to be scanned for the first time. It probably is already in Australia.
