LOOKOUT!! There have been recent ads by New Sellers of NEW Vitamix and now Optimum BLENDERS selling for $200 to $300 below retail. These are obviously scams to get money via Paypal payment as it takes over a week using the EBay Resolution process to get a refund!!!      Lesson # Stay away from new sellers in obscure suburbs and If it sounds too good to be true...it is

While I agree that there are a lot of sellers selling fake items I don't see how they are getting any money from Paypal, any money paid for a refund when the seller is at fault is funded by the seller out of their Paypal account and if they haven't sufficient funds the payyment will be taken from their bank account or linked credit card. If they have no money in them then Paypal will go after the with debt collectors, I am sure with the number of sellers there are in China, both on and off ebay, Paypal have the capability of getting their money back there same as they would in Australia.

The fact it takes over a week for resolution which gives the dishonest seller enough time to withdraw funds and close accounts I imagine, That and the sellers are probably using fake or stolen credit card/bank accounts. Ive seen over 4 ads in the last week in the kitchen blender section alone. EBay is filthy rich and writing off a few errand transactions (probably insured or sells the bad credit transaction to debt recovery co.) is a drop in the ocean... its chicken feed. Bottomline there is a loophole criminals arte exploiting you can bet on it.

You have no idea Ricko.   Sellers cannot close their ebay accounts within 6 months of a transaction.

As for paypal,  you have to have verified bank accounts attached and paypal has no qualms about sending in the debt collectors if anyone owes them money.

Ah yeah I do have some idea thats why this rort is going on otherwise why would they bother wasting their time and risk prosecution? Perhaps it has to do with EBay recently separating the Paypal business side of things and there is a flaw/loophole or the sellers are hoping a naive buyer just waits and waits for the arrival of the item thats never going to come and in the end does nothing about it out of ignorance or embarrassment The latter seems likely. Anyhow as I said EBay wouldnt care less as any loss is factored in their overall profit/loss projections.

Re: Blender Buyers Beware of New Sellers offloading Cheap New Vitamx and Optimum 9400!

You are right, Ebay doesn't care, and that is why buyers need to be aware of what they are buying, and what their rights and responsibilities are. There is information available to help buyers both here on the boards, and in Ebays help section, and also in the terms and conditions you agree to when you sign up to Ebay and Paypal.

I understand that it is a nuisence for a buyer to have to spend time educating themselves, and that is why a mistake can be the best education, lol. The info and protections are out there, it is up to buyers to protect themselves and make use of the buyer protections. It is no-ones fault but their own if they fail to do so.
