Just a bit confused here so please help me to understand this.
Purchased 2 items and asked seller for combined postage which was agreed to. Both items were Buy it now and no matter how I tried to purchase the items on Ebay, the items only came up individually with the original postage costs. Contacted seller who asked me for my PPal email address which I sent him. He then told me to go into my PP account where I would find an invoice from them with all the correct info. This I did and paid the money requested and received the items. Seller has a 100% feedback but thinking about this whole transaction it seems I could have been scammed perhaps.
There is no record of my purchases through Ebay. So I cannot receive or leave feedback. Was I doing the right thing by just paying for the goods through PP or was I breaking the rules? What could I have done if the seller did not send me the items - could I have gone directly to Paypal with a claim?
Just want to know where I stand in case this happens again. Not comfortable not having to actually go through Ebay.

If you haven't actually bought the DVD's through ebay then yes you and the seller have violated an ebay policy. It is possible for a seller to make adjustments to a listing or set up a special listing for you.

Could you please check whether the 2 items you purchased in same currency? if it is not (such as one is in US$ and the other is in AU$), they can not be combined to a invoice.

Bought both items in Aus. dollars. Before I finalised the transaction I asked seller about not actually going through Ebay and if it was permitted and he replied (do not know how to copy and paste) "ha ha do not stress everything going through PP" - words to this effect. Will not be doing this again I can assure you!

If these items were "instant payment required" then it would show up when you click on the BIN. I buy several items at the same time from one seller who has all their items on "instant payment required", I just pay for all of them, with the individual postage, they then send them all in one box and refund excess postage. They obviously trust me; safer way to do it would be to wait for the buyer to acknowledge receipt of the parcel and all the items, and then refund.:)

Supa nothing as "instant payment required" showed up when I tried to BIN. Absolutely nothing shows up on my Ebay regarding this sale only on my PP account. Just hope the DVDs are okay when I actually get down to playing them.

All you wanted to know is could you have been scammed and the answer is no, not as long as you were paying for goods.
Also while the sale may have been off ebay unless the seller opened an unpaid item dispute or offered mutual cancellation ebay still got their fees so why would they be bothered?

PJ I do not understand you. Nothing shows on Ebay that I purchased these items so how on earth could the seller open an unpaid item dispute or offered mutual cancellation. I do not think Ebay got any FVF any way. What I really wanted to know was if what I was doing was against Ebay policy. "deja vu items" appears to think so. Have never seen "instant payment required" on invoices but then I do not buy much.

I can confirm the seller has violated a policy by selling to you away from ebay. You should be eligible for Paypal protection if you've paid for " goods. "

I buy most of my goods away from Ebay using Paypal and am fully protected as a buyer by Paypal as long as I stay under Aus$2,000 in any one transaction.
I only know this info because I asked Paypal themselves before I ever started buying with my Paypal account because I buy in wholesale lots most of the time and Ebay sellers only offer playtime lots at inflated wholesale prices.
Whenever I buy more than a value of Aus$2,000 in one hit I use a Bonded Letter of Credit issued by an International bank which ensures my money isn't handed over to the seller until after I give the okay after checking the delivery.
I have been asked to work outside of Ebay when buying many times but I'm not going to repeat my replies to the sellers here lol. (Take that comment whichever way you choose lol)

The items were sold on ebay, they were just paid for directly through PayPal invoice rather than ebay checkout
