Buyingf a boat rules???

I am looking to buy my first BIG purchase...at least for me...a sail boat. Do boats have different bidding criteria because the one I am looking at has gone from $500-$650 with the same bidder? Not sure if I have to put title or item number?

OK Should have said buying a boat... I will go with item number and wonder why a single bidder can go from $500-$650 with their own 2 bids? Item number is 300808644972 If I am wrong to list number let me know and I will self report!

Re: Buyingf a boat rules???

Hi, It is because this auction had a reserve, boats and autos are some of the few categories that have reserves. The bidder didn't meet it with the first bid and now has with the second.

Incidentally, I am a sailor from way back, and that marking is not a heron sail. The hull also looks slightly different to a heron, but it's possible they have a new version with a new sail marking that I don't know about. I would ask the seller first.

(sail is not to top of mast)

Re: Buyingf a boat rules???

Thank you. My girls have only been sailing for a few weeks and love it so I thought this was similar to what they use. I emailed the seller and he said he knew nothing about boats or sails and only listed it as a heron because he saw it written on the boat somewhere!

Re: Buyingf a boat rules???

The seller could be looking at the name the previous owner called it rather than type.

Also could be another sail or both another sail, mast and boom put onto this boat.

But I guess if you simply want a small dinghy to start off with and if it comes with the trailer, quite a cheap option.
