So what do you suggest?
The seller uses C & S so they are protected, the parcel goes missing so the seller wipes their hands of it as they can prove it was posted. How many buyers do you know that will just say "that's OK, you posted it so I have lost my $5 or $50 or $500 or whatever".
Sorry, but this little black duck will not just roll over. If I am not covered by paypal I go to my credit card because I have already had experience of AP's attitude to paying out insurance claims (another story and not related to ebay).

Nothing to do with opinion. I often call ebay or Aust Post to check FACTS.
I am going to report those regular posters, who others sometimes refer to as "experienced" who IMO should know better than to post information that is wrong, or significantly misleading and breaches board policy.

I suggest buyers understand that, in Australia, the responsibility for ensuring the safe delivery of their items is not solely the domain of the seller. The law is as it is because online / mail order purchasing contains inherent risks, and those risks are deemed understood and accepted by the buyer if they choose to purchase via said risky method and do not request a secure delivery service.
I think you know what my personal policies in regards to INRs are, and if not, I will state again that I will never let a buyer be out of pocket for an item that hasn't arrived, but the fact remains that there is no legal obligation for me to do so, and that is all I am trying to get across.
I think it is far better for people to be aware of these things than to assume that they have an automatic right to a refund if an item doesn't arrive, because they don't, and far better for people to make informed purchase decisions than find out the hard way that they don't have the rights they thought they did.

The key term being IMO, presumably. Btw, the 'O' standfs for opinion. So other's opinions are prohibited, but yours are okay?

So do I, and they seem to change depending on who it is that you speak to. I think we have also had our fair share of experiences with the *cough*FACTS*facts* that Australia Post not only tells us on the phone, but also what they write here on the boards,
Cats, I think it may have been you that pointed out that Aus Post do in fact offer up to $100 compensation on some click and send stuff, when AP reps were telling us we had to take additional insurance, wasn't it?

I will say no more except to say that my refund with delivery only shown to the nearest mail centre was certainly under the current buyer/seller protection polocies and that if any buyer is in the position of being refused a refund under these circustances they just have to email me and I will tell them how to appeal the Paypal decision so they quite rightly get their money back.
