Can I get a refund for an item that was not delivered and is on the way back to sender?

I unfortunately was on a cruise and seller chose aramex which cannot leave on premises, so after 3 failed attempts the item was to be sent back to the seller on Feb 3, I unfortunately did not chase up on a refund until today the 21st when the money back guarantee just lapsed (estimated delivery was Jan 22, I thought I was just in the 30 day timeframe but apparently not). I feel like I should be entitled to the refund of the cost of the item, maybe not the postage cost, as the seller is gonna to get back the item if they haven't already, but I will be down the item and money. I have sent a message to the seller hoping to work things out and still filled out an item not arrived request, although I was told I was not longer covered by eBay money back guarantee. The seller never reached out to me for this period of over 2 weeks regarding the status of the delivery or refund...I admit of course I forgot as well, but it would have been nice and also they have 1.4k things sold and 100% positively feedback, so you'd think they would be savvy communicators. But the limited conversations with them did not seem very friendly either, they said that it had been sent in 'regular mail and the delivery company would choose where to leave it', which wasn't exactly true as they seemed to need signature on delivery. Waiting for a reply from them, hopefully I can get a refund for the cost of the item, I don't want to be forgotten to write a negative review about how the seller kept both my money and item.

Even if it had been within the 30 days you would never have been eligable for an INR  claim, since you were the one responsible for the missed deliveries.

 

As far as getting the item price back then the seller should refund you when Sendle returns the item, not before.

Seller responded with the SWEETEST message about refunding me the item and then SENDING it to me free of charge when they receive it...I feel horrible for jumping the gun and assuming the worst, it really was a communication problem on my end. Forget I even posted this here...😂😂

I turned down the offer of the refund if she was willing to send it again. Man this really made me reconsider my faith in humanity... being kind really pays off...I think across messaging it's really hard to read mood and intent. Really glad I jumped the gun here.

I am awaiting the sellers reply as to if they have received the item back yet, I have checked the progress online and although the return was started on the 3rd of this month, it's been 19 days since and for some reason the item is still apparently in transit back to the seller. I am not sure if the website tracking is entirely accurate as it's being sent from a metropolitan city to another metropolitan city that is only 1 state away in Australia. So some dodgy courier is also thrown into this mix... going forward I will have to discern with the seller which courier they use, and should have asked for a courier with authority to leave.

As the seller was using Sendle, they'd have no idea which courier was used though it was probably Aramex or Couriers Please.

 

The tracking might show which one was used, but be aware the journey back will be by the slowest method probably.

Fair enough thank you...I just hope that the seller communicates with me because while this situation was less than ideal, I was always polite and hoping they can return the favor, and hope they get the item back safely, it's best for all involved
