Can I purchase a World War 1 bayonet located in the US, and then have it shipped to Australia?

Well, then neither would politely asking them to chuck in a freebie, I guess.

It's right there in black & white, if a seller reports you for doing it, don't be surprised if ebay rigidly apply this rule to you even if you have a very good reason for asking the seller to use a different service. 🙃

A lot of UK and US sellers don't want to sell OS and with the GSP their delivery responsibilities end when the item reaches the Pitney Bowes parcel hub, so I think it might be a long bow when you say that sellers WILL relist and change from the GSP to normal international shipping.

That's strange. Because in the past when I have asked a seller if they would possibly change from GSP to USPS (And UK equivalent for UK) they're more than happy to do it. And the word on the street is that most sellers do.  When you say "A lot of UK and US sellers don't want to sell OS and with the GSP their delivery responsibilities end when the item reaches the Pitney Bowes parcel hub, ", well, that's still in the minority.

If I were to ask 20 sellers to please re-list item for USPS, or Royal Mail etc., I would possibly get 2 no answers.

As mentioned previously, most sellers have no idea that their items are going overseas via GSP. One seller a few years back was an experienced seller. He had no idea what GSP was. Strangely half of his items were going via USPS and the other half (approx) were going via GSP. Items were all similar or same. He had no idea of this.

Some sellers that say no, still had no idea that GSP was the way OS items were going. They just didn't want to go through the changes again. Too much effort! Well, fair enough, that's their right.

Not sure where you've been - but this has been in play for quite a while.

USPS :

The Postal Service™ has temporarily suspended international mail acceptance to Australia due to service impacts related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The service disruption affects Priority Mail International® (PMI).
