Can sellers invoice alternatives to Global shipping?

Hi

I'm interested in a 2 pound movie poster from UK with 18 pound (!!!!)  postage. Are the sellers locked into the Global shipping they advertise? Another poster the same size from the UK is less than half the cost with Royal mail.

no they're not...I have often negotiated purchases with o'seas sellers...and you're right approx 50% less...a lot won't do it either

the global shipping costs are one of the top complained about problems buying with ebay internationally. the consensus seems to be you can ask the seller if they can use another method but seems most will say no.

the seller gets a one stop postal service where once they hand it over to the carrier ebay covers delivery regardless of where it ends up.

but we the buyers are slugged huge postage costs.

most here on the boards have given up asking for cheaper post options and just dont buy from sellers using the global shipping program. not good for sellers or buyers
