Checkout Error! Please Help!

Hi, I have tried purchasing the same item for 72 hours now.. and still get the same error message at checkout.

"We can't process your payment. Please select a different payment method or check your payment details including your billing address."

I have never had this kind of trouble before.

I have tried everything, 2 debit cards (the seller accepts card) and a card connected to my paypal account (I dont necessarily want to use Paypal, but tried anyway.) Tried on a different account and it still came up with the error. The seller does ship to my country, so that is no issue. I have no bad restriction on my account according to eBay.

I have sufficient funds on each card, I contacted my bank provider, and they see no issues, I contacted eBay and they couldnt be of much help. I contacted the seller and they tried to sort it from their end - but no luck.

The seller is located in the UK, and I have previously brought from the UK using the same billing address and payment method, only last week. So im not sure what is causing this, as I have never had this trouble before.

I have spoken to the seller and they contacted eBay, and claims that there is no issue on their side or on their account so payment should be working.


I tried to test it out on another product (just to see if checkout will work - and the same error occurred), I have tried using the Classic Desktop site, the app, on another device, and using another account. And still not working.

I just don't know what to do and I am worried that the seller will sell the item before I figure this out.

When you say you tried with a different account, do you mean a different eBay account?

When you contacted your bank, could they see any evidence of an attempted transaction from their end of things?

You tested on another product - was that from the same seller or a different one?

Given everything you've tried, I'm guessing it's an issue at the sellers end, unless you've tried an item from a different UK seller and still had the same error message.

Try clearing your cookies. It's always worth a try.

Just some suggestions for your consideration. Try using a laptop of desktop computer, not a phone. Try refreshing the page. Clear Computer history. Don't use Internet Explorer, use another browser. Check details are correct in both eBay and Paypal accounts. Make sure your eBay account is still set up for payments via Paypal etc. Ring Paypal and Ebay (again)

  I seem to remember having the same problem some years ago, can't remember how I fixed it, but it would have been one of the aforementioned suggestions.

Have had exactly the same issue attempting to purchase an item from eBay UK last week.

Two eBay chats DID NOT help.

Went to eBay My Account tab and changed my home address to one in the UK.  Tried paying for item on Sellers first and second invoice - didn't work.  Tried paying for item in my "Items bought" list and at first and second attempts Paypal came back with messsage saying "Sorry. That function not supported.  Please report so we can fix"  At third attempt eBay and Paypal finally gave in and processed my payment.  Took ALL DAY to pay for one item.

It is an eBay software problem.

Just did purchase of a Buy It Now item on eBay Aust. from WA for delivery to NSW.  eBay's "Pay now" button not highlighted and nothing happened.  Went to home page and selected "Pay Now" button.  Directed to eBay's  "Check Out" page,  selected pay by Paypal.  At login for Paypal system puts in my email address BUT as I am typing in password cursor leaps back up to email address field and corrupts it.  So now have to wait for ~ 3 secs. after email address field is system filled and cursor leaps back from password field to that field,  then I move cursor and mostly I am allowed tp type it in.  Then Paypal system after going through about 12 steps with some REALLY INTERESTING urls. appearing, Paypal message comes back to tell me "Sorry. That function not supported.  Please report so we can fix".  Made sure eBay system doesn't think I am still living in the UK and finally eBay and Paypal give in after multiple attempts and process payment.  Took about 3/4 hr.

Have you tried clearing cache and cookies then rebooting your computer ?  I have rarely encountered your problem, I use Firefox and Chrome as browsers.

The thread is nearly 2 years old, have you tried any of the suggestions here from members ?
