So...I bought a couple of wedge shaped door stoppers from a Chinese seller with an Oz warehouse. It wasn't posted as soon as I'd hoped but eventually Aust Post finally received the (tracked) item and it was on its way. My purchase was posted from Melbourne, it arrived and the door wedges do the job (had to double side tape them together but it's all good).
I've bought items from China occasionally and I have been amused at the customs description of the contents, which does not in any way tally with what is in the package. But I didn't expect the same thing to occur for a parcel only sent from Melb...to Melb.
The teeny tiny parcel of door wedges was labelled 'Laundry Hampers' on the outside of the wrapping. I was rather hoping that the parcel would be perhaps TARDIS-like and I'd dip my hand in and pull out a laundry hamper or two but no such luck.

I've got news for you zanadoo......it your parcel was actually posted in Melbourne it would not have had a Customs declaration.
The so called holdup in posting was to allow for it to come from China/Hong Kong or wherever the seller is registered.
I must agree however....most of the Customs Declarations fom Asia bear very little resemblance to the actual contents.

This parcel didn't have a customs declaration on it. It was definitely from Melbourne with an Aust Post tracking number, but in a line below my address it also said the contents were laundry hampers. The label was white, probably an eParcel or something, with none of the usual required customs stuff, and with a Melb Oz company address.
I could quite imagine a seller might delay sending an item by getting it from China first but the time frame doesn't quite fit to get it, repackage it, lodge with AP then finally send it on. That also seems like too much trouble for a couple of door stoppers.
My other purchase is coming from China (has CN tracking no) and it has finally got to Melbourne and will hopefully turn up on Monday. Fingers crossed.
As an aside.... Got to love Royal Mail to Oz tracking & Aust Post though - a purchase I made after the Chinese ones travelled from the UK to Oz (to my address) in 7 days, that is, it arrived before both of the Chinese items. I wish all parcel mail (not to mention quick posting sellers) from overseas was always that efficient.
