Christmas presents for Hospitals

Did anyone else get an Ebay generated email asking if they would like to donate a toy to a sick child for christmas? Thought I might have had some response from Ebay or the hospital to say if the gift was received/in good condition or anything? Only have the seller confirming it was posted. The whole deal was a bit odd I thought.

Re: Christmas presents for Hospitals

Sounds suss to me, I think you may have been had....  😞

How long ago did you buy the "gift."  I hope you didn't spend too much....

Did the ad say what hospital they were 'donating' to?  If so, you could contact the hospital and see what happened.  If they don't know what you're talking about (highly likely) you can report the seller to the Qld Online Fraud Squad and let them look into it...

Re: Christmas presents for Hospitals

So you purchased an item from a seller and gave them an address to send it to of a hospital OR was it sent to a private address?

Not aware of anyone that got emails like that from ebay.

Did the message go to your email address or was it via ebay messages?

The bigger childrens' hospitals usually have their own toy drive, fundraising etc.  I have never seen anything like this is all the years I have been on here.  And yes the major kids hospitals usually acknowledge such donations- I suspect very much you have been had.

One can only hope there is the most biggest dose of karma coming for someone who does such things using sick kids as the lure to suck unsuspecting people in 😞

Sadly think Colkym is right. Was the toy you purchased on 19 Dec the one you donated?? Expensive lesson, but you must have had to send it somewhere, I would write up a legal sounding letter advising if $xx wasn't refunded to bank or toy returned to POBox XX you will be informing police and they should expect a visit in the near future. Probably won't do any good but could make you feel better. X-(
