Confused about getting return label and refund

I bought soldering iron 80w, but the way it heats (or does not) I think is more like 60w, which is inadequate for my needs.  It shows the temperature as 520C, but does not melt the solder properly; it should be melting at

315°C–370°C.

So I initiated return (17/4), and got message "get ready to send item back.  You'll receive label by the 22nd".  They do not say how long do I have to post it or anything, and the seller is arguing.  I am sure the info is somewhere on eBay, but so far I have not found it; I really do not want to spend another half a day going around in circles talking to bots.  I am too old and tired for that.  So if anybody could advice me on what the important dos and donts are I would most appreciate it.

Re: Confused about getting return label and refund

I will "advice" (sic) you...

1. Ensure all contact with the seller remains solely within the request.

2. If you receive a return label, make sure you use it within the timeframe provided (the timeframe will be calculated once the return label is generated).

3. If you don't receive a return label by the 22nd, ask eBay to step in (this can't be done until after the timeframe has expired).

Re: Confused about getting return label and refund

The seller still has until the 22nd to get the label to you, no need to worry yet.

Re: Confused about getting return label and refund

Others have advised you on return label but as an aside:

80w soldering irons are typically for electronic repairs.

Most regular solders melt between 138°C and 235°C , hard solders exceed 450°C for silver soldering and brazing.

Sorry to say but I think your issue is not with the iron but with the solder and type of work you are trying to do (ie a Toyota Echo will take you from point A to B but will struggle to pull your boat or caravan) so buying the right tool for the job is more important than blaming the tool for not being able to do the job.

Re: Confused about getting return label and refund

Thank you for all the info.  I want to use it for leadlighting, and I was told that 80w is what I need for the 60/40 solder, which needs 315°C–370°C.  This one claims to be reaching 520 C, and it shows  520 C, but is not hot enough.  Now the seller told me that it sounds like I do not have enough voltage.....   Can you comment on that claim please.20260417_110911.jpg

Re: Confused about getting return label and refund

Whenever I can't find information on ebay, I do a Google search and it usually directs you to the right page within ebay.
