I recently bought a movie and the seller sent me a different version of the movie than what they described and what was pictured. I messaged them about it along with some photos. They accepted that the wrong item had been sent and they would send the correct one. A week later still no replacement so open an INAD request. They immediate reply its no longer available, send the original back and they will refund. I replied as its a INAD they should pay return postage. They immediately escalate it to a case. eBay steps in resolves it in my favour.
Now for the bit that I find odd. eBay state that they will (and have) pay the return postage cost. Why?? seller was clearly in the wrong. The seller is large but not huge, so if you sell a 100 items a month eBay pays the return postage?
Item was NOT eBayplus and neither am I..

Yes, it sounds a bit odd but why worry when you have won your case.

Innocent mistakes are sometimes made

I am not worried just curious why eBay would pay for the return and how do I get a bit of the same service?

Not necessarily an innocent mistake, if that was the case surely the would have just accepted the mistake and paid the return instead they asked eBay to step in, as Sir Humphrey Appleby would say "a courageous decision" in the face of the evidence.

They appear to be dropshipping, so probably have some experience in wrong items being delivered.

Or not enough experience when a mistake is made thus asking ebay to step in,and I'm sure ebay would have explained to them
what will happen next time lol.

Unlikely they have 6000+ FB and sell 100 items a month and have been on eBay for 10+ years

Are they a Chinese seller? That would explain it
