Hi... I'm kind of new at this and was hoping someone could answer this question for me.
I recently picked up a bargain on a autographed print with free express delivery. The price i won with at auction wouldnt have even cover the cost of postage! Now i have recieved an email from the seller saying that he or she dropped it at post office and broke frame and glass(how convinient!) and will refund my money... The question is can i ask it to be repaired rather than be refunded as i think its worth more than what i paid for it??? Not happy

Would you be happy to have it out of the frame, it is the print which has value. Ask if the seller could take it out of the frame and send it. See what reply you get. Perhaps ask for a photo of the damage too, so you can assess whether it is worth sending as is.

They have just emailed me saying it is damaged beyond repair... This may be true but it seems to me anyone who is not happy with a price they get at auction can do this just to exit the agreement... Buyer beware i spose. Didnt take long to get my first bad experience at ebay! lol..... Oh well,thanks anyway and happy bidding

I'd persevere with asking for a photo as it really is up to you whether you accept the damage or not.
On the other hand, how much under value do you think you paid. What if you offered them a bit more, at least to cover the cost of postage and their fees, time etc.
At the end of the day it will depend upon how much you want it and if they are still willing to sell it.
It's true value of course is the amount that someone is willing to pay.

I know it's galling, but there's really nothing you can do to force her to sell. The best you can do is to leave feedback along the lines of "Seller refused to go through with transaction." Don't say anything about what you suspect - you have no proof, and it could give her grounds for removal.
If she sends you a request to cancel the sale, DO NOT agree to it. At least that way, she will not be refunded her selling fees.
Watch her listings to see if it gets relisted.
