Hi Everybody
I recently purchased this item 290804700034 and received an item identical to this item 160903781478.
It performs the same function, but the item I got is made in China and ½ the price.
Should I worry about it?.....Is it worth complaining?
Any opinions would be appreciated.

In some cases this would only be worth asking for a refund of the difference in price.
Thanks for that, that is helpful advice.
You don't think sellers sending out different items is worth asking the question? Regardless of the circumstances, is this something you condone?
But, yes I was weighing up if it was worth all the dramas, does that make me a bad person?

From what I can understand of the OP: the buyer bought an item and got something different. After doing research the buyer found out that the item he received was a cheaper version but the buyer was charged the same price as the more expensive item.

master...
Please disregard the advice to
'...follow up by leaving negitive feed back and 1 for each of the star ratings'.
Perhaps for Item as Described but if you go low on the others just make sure they are justified.
There are too many DSR assassins on ebay already.
As you have indicated, sound out the seller first. It's hard to believe the seller deliberately pulling such a blatant bait and switch. Maybe a friend was helping him pack that day.
Many buyers are too quick to judge. Keep yourself above that group.

master...
it's interesting to note that this guy sells from his own website and he has no other dc-dc products on offer.

Yes, termalert, thanks for that, I agree.
I am only after what is fair and don't believe in unjustified feedback.
I have sent a message just asking if they are aware of the situation with this item being posted, accidents happen.
I personally would be happy with just a partial refund, when the time comes, but we'll see what happens.
Cheers

Sorry, missed this post.:|
Yes, I saw that, it makes it all the stranger why send out this thing?
This Sidewinder guy hangs out in a few 4X4 forums selling his stuff...err I mean helping people, that's how I heard about him. They were saying how good his stuff is, they mustn't be to fussy and obviously he does sell a lot of stuff. Maybe he is going in a different direction now.

Masterb2006 - now that is has been clarified that the item you received was totally different to the item you ordered then of course you should be contacting the seller and asking him to rectify the situation.
It was a little unclear whether or not the item you received was different or whether you felt you had been ripped of as you had found the same item cheaper.
You are joking right? We are talking 50% difference, to the door! You appear to be suggesting that I could buy a stack of these items form eBay (China), re-advertise them on ebay (AU) with a picture of something else and for no other reason than having to go to the post office and pick them up...double the price. Is that correct?
If the seller is running a proper business, paying GST etc then on an item of this value a 100% mark up would be expected. The cost of running a business in Australia is very high and after taking into consideration all costs etc the seller is probably only making a clear profit of a couple of dollars

Master...
Just curious.
Were you slow to pay or was the seller slow to post.
You bought the item on 8th October. Maybe you ummed and arrred a lot before coming here. Don't dawdle too much longer or your PayPal dispute window will close in about 14 days.

Hi master , you were not rude , your just dealing with sellers here who think all buyers are stupid trouble makers. In fact they were the ones being rude buy not firstly checking the items as you clearly listed there item numbers so they could see for themselves.
But oh no they could`nt help but assume it must be your fault or that you were just making up a story because you might have seen it cheaper.
You are clearly in the right here and have the right to be angry at both the assumptions left here buy certain people and the seller who is clearly in the wrong.
Simply email your seller with your concerns if he is not willing to help out just make a claim with paypal then leave negitive feedback as he would deserve it, And dont fear sellers can not leave negative feedback for you no matter what. That is ebay policy to prevent sellers purposely retaliating. But only do this if they are not willing to help you out.
Also buy making your claim with paypal if found in your favour it is very possible that you will be refunded your entire payment including your postage costs and in some cases keep the item as it will cost the seller or paypal to much to have it returned.
And from what you have said I believe you have a good chance alround. Good luck because if this is true you deserve the right item or your money refunded so you can buy the item you really wanted.

'Also buy making your claim with paypal if found in your favour it is very possible that you will be refunded your entire payment including your postage costs and in some cases keep the item as it will cost the seller or paypal to much to have it returned.'
To clarify.
The item must invariably be returned.
PayPal have never paid postage cost for an item to be returned. The buyer must pay the cost of returning an item to
a seller and this has to be by Registered Post or it's equivalent.
It is entirely up to a seller whether or not they reimburse a buyer for return postage. The maximum refund is ALL the
buyer originally paid ( that is, item cost and postage ).
Not having a shot sweet, just clarifying.
