Hi everyone,
I have a difficult question. I recently purchased several lots of photos (over 2400 all up) from a seller in the UK. The seller has shipping as Royal Mail standard which is usually fine for individual small parcels but I'm afraid it will be very expensive for a larger parcel. I've asked if they could re-list all the purchased items as a single BIN listing and use EIS so I can compare the pricing. His response was he doesn't use EIS. Odd, as in most cases I have to ask sellers if they could ship RM for smaller packages. He is charging about $150 shipping and says he'll refund the difference. It seems very expensive but how can I compare it to EIS pricing? He does have very high positive feedback.
Thanks

If he's going to refund the difference the postage will be way cheaper than eIS anyway.

Not sure why you want to compare, they have said they don't use it. You either go with what they offer or don't buy, you cant force them to use EIS just because you want it.

He should be amenable to doing a single listing.
If he isn't I would take the promise of a refund with a bottle of salt.

He said he doesn't use it AFTER I purchased the items and asked if he could send them via EIS. That's what's odd. It's no extra work either way and most UK sellers only use EIS. I never said I was going to 'force' them to use it however I would be somewhat inclined to be a bit **bleep**ty if I have to pay an extra £20-30 because they choose not to use EIS for a customer that just purchased £400 worth of goods. That's why I wanted a comparison. Maybe the difference is not that much.

That's my thoughts. I will be able to calculate the shipping cost for Royal Mail once the goods arrive and will certainly neg him if he has made a fair profit on postage. He has 13K+ in sales and 99.9% positive feedback.

That's what I'm not sure about. I recently purchased 5 albums that had EIS charge of £28 per album. When combined as 1 listing it ended up being about £10 per album. I'm not sure if those prices are comparable to Royal Mail or not. I know Royal Mail is cheaper for smaller items but sure about bulkier/heavier items.

Now why would you do that ? Do you begrudge sellers making a fair profit on postage, bearing in mind the packaging costs, eBay fees on postage let alone time taken to actually post the items ?
Remember you were the one that wanted to change the shipping type AFTER buying the items.

In my experience GSP/eIS will charge more that Royal Mail, with a poorer service than Royal Mail.

And thats your problem, you purchased and than asked if he would use EIS. Normally if you are not happy with whats on offer, ask first, why would you purchase
