I've been communicating with the seller - they sent me a postpack so I could return the item 2 weeks ago, but I still haven't got it, so they are sending me another one. But in the meantime, because it hasn't been marked "sent" by me, Ebay have closed the return, so I guess if the seller was shoddy at all they don't need to refund me now? (no proof that they are! They have a lot of good feedback, and no negs)
What happens in this case? And in case it ever happens again - how do I stop Ebay from closing a return? Or how do I contact them to re-open it once they have? The help system is completely NOT helping me right now =P
Thanks in advance for any help!

Open a PayPal dispute and do everything they tell you, in the order they tell you. Sign up to the free returns offer, if it's still available, BEFORE opening the dispute.

enigmabear, I think when I went to the "not as described" link, one of the steps they told me to do was a return request (though it was about 2-3 weeks ago, so my mind could be fuzzy! I just know I did the steps as Ebay had them =ยญ))
tippytoes, unfortunately, as I didn't have any money in, my paypal or linked account, I used the credit card to pay, so no paypal dispute possible.

Was the credit card processed through paypal or did you pay the seller directly with the credit card?
If through paypal I believe there is a way to open a dispute.....I have never done this so do not know how it works.
If you paid the seller directly you can try a chargeback through your credit card provider.

I think it's direct? I used credit card at checkout, definitely not paypal, cos the credit card is attached to my husband's paypal account, not mine. I'll look into the chargeback thing if I don't hear from theseller this week - thanks! Hadn't heard of that option =ยญ)

Credit card payments are processed by PayPal if the seller doesn't have a merchant account with a payment system that is integrated with ebay, so you may find the transaction is in your husband's account history if the card is attached to his account. If so, you should be able to open a dispute through there.

Oh dear.....it would have been so much safer to use you husband's paypal account. Remember that in future.
However, I think if you use a credit card at checkout it will be processed through paypal. To pay the seller direct the seller has to actually accept credit cards through a merchant facility. Did the seller have credit card as a payent option?
Edit.....Snap Digi. .

Oh, thanks both! I will ask him to log into his paypal account later and see! =ยญ)
I am about 95% sure that the seller isn't going to rip me off, but I liked having the security of the ebay return to count on
