Ebay insisting on writing a comment.

Please explain why EBAY insists on writing a comment.

Further, why an automated answer appears on the screen in feedback. I find this sort of required answer and prompted automated answer mis-representative of reality.

If I choose to reply I will do so.

If a transaction proceeds smoothly there should be no need to comment, unless one of the parties (perhaps Ebay ) is insecure in their position.

Requiring a bull**bleep** answer is simply lying to all parties involved in the transaction.

As soon as you start typing a response in feedback that auto-answer disappears. I left some a couple of days ago and that's what happened.

Edit. After looking at your feedback left with random letters etc - why do you even bother leaving it ?????

Just lazy I guess..................

There was a similar thread just the other day: https://community.ebay.com.au/t5/Technical-Issues/Feedback-narration-pre-filled/m-p/2483567#M8167

I don't really see what its utility is, but (as already said) as soon as you start typing it disappears.

I haven't bought for a few months but unless things have changed since then, feedback is voluntary?

For all I know, ebay may send follow up emails suggesting feedback (I don't know because me ebay email addy isn't one I visit often), but you don't have to give it unless you want to.

Auto correct is everywhere these days. If it is appearing, I'd say the reason is they are trying to make things easier & quicker for buyers. I'm not a huge fan of autocorrect & suggestion either but occasionally it is useful.

Ebay isn't the only site that solicits feedback. I am on a few other buying sites such as Catch and same thing. I personally find reading some feedback about either a product or a seller to be useful.

But bottom line is if you don't want to leave feedback, don't.

If Ebay has requested me to leave feedback then I'd accept it as their automated system simply trying to get one more box filled. I can't recall Ebay ever insisting I leave feedback but I have had needy sellers begging me for feedback even before they've posted an item.

Generally I find buyers who leave sensible feedback are pleasant people who are leaving comments to help a seller who has provided a good product/service etc.

As a seller I'm not particularly fussed if a buyer doesn't leave feedback but I'm pleased Ebay provides the right of reply. If I received feedback that appeared to be in Klingon I might be tempted to reply in kind.

As a buyer I am happy to leave positive feedback when I can, just seems a decent thing to do.

Both buyers and sellers are free to decide whether to go the extra step and leave feedback, nothing is forcing them to do this.

If I have a complaint or a question about one of Ebay's suggestions I let Ebay know by clicking on a 'comments' link or start and online chat, and telling/asking them.

No one is forced to buy or sell on Ebay. If a person is not happy with the website it is quite simple to not use it.
