Error message when trying to make payment on a purchased item.

I have made two different purchases from the UK and am unable to make payment due to an error message.  Different sellers and purchased on different days. 

Message reads **The seller can’t accept payments right now. Please contact the seller.**  there is an error code which is 70370.

One seller has been very helpful in trying to resolve and has come to the conclusion if you speak with ebay they blame the sellers PayPal account and if you speak with PayPal they blame the Ebay account. (I have spoken with Ebay and would concur with her conclusion)

If you google and do a bit of research  on the error code and message it appears it does happen occasionaly and there does not seem to be an answer to resolve the issue. 

The last purchase I made the seller is an experienced seller and has received international payments after my purchase. 

I have also checked my paypal account which does not have any restrictions noted and I have been received funds today into the account. 

Anyone have any ideas?

Try going to your My eBay, click onto the Account tab; from the left panel, click onto Personal information, and just under Financial Information you will see Automatic payment method. Some advice for this error suggests that this is the information you need to remove. (There's a link next to your saved payment method to remove it.)

However, you can also try what seems to me to make more sense... with Checkout saved payment methods (also under the Financial Information on that same page). If you see any saved payment method, remove it. (I don't have a saved method, and I see "You have no saved payment methods.")

Thanks for the response.

I tried what you suggested but could not remove the payment method totally due to being a seller, changed it to credit card but still did not work. 

I guess it is back on the phone today to both paypal and ebay.

I did manage to get one payment through and it was  on your line of thought Countess.

After speaking with Paypal they advised no issue their end. Mmm back on the phone to eBay and they insisted it was an issue with the sellers paypal account. I explained I did not think so as one is an experienced seller of 17 years and is receiving payments via other buyers. 

Decided to try another way - 

Did not go through the payment process via the item but went to my cart - (I had previously removed the automatic payment method  on the checkout side of things as suggested) 

Selected the item from the experienced seller - selected paypal method of payment - logged onto paypal  and payment processed. Check out Sucess!!!!

The other item I suspect is a paypal issue as it is an inexperienced seller so will wait for Ebay to try and resolve with the seller.

I'm glad that paying through the cart worked!

I would not be surprised in the slightest that there are bits of bad code lurking in the jungle depths of eBay checkout.
