Excess postage costs in ad

I have bid on a a pair of toothbrushes. The postage said $75 (In Perth)

I put in my bid and went to postage calculater. It does not change when I put in my postcode 3134. Stays at $75. I clicked the postage link (Aust post satchel) and it comes up as $14:40.

Is the seller doing something underhand. Im not paying $75 for 2 toothbushes to be posted.

but even so, $14.40 to post 2 toothbrushes?

seriously?

are they toothbrushes for an elephant?

I figured they'd have to be brand new (well, they wouldn't be secondhand...I suppose :D) electronic ones in boxes or something to warrant a 3kg satchel, and if they're a premium brand, maybe the seller loaded a lot of their value into the handling charge and started at 99c (which is totally wrong, of course - and reportable while the listing is active).

so you are espousing and encouraging that the OP breaches eBay policy?

On a public board?

Well, that's neat Smiley Tongue But maybe the OP doesn't know your dentist Smiley Tongue - there are some on eBay in excess of $200, free post, so "worth" aside, RRP can get a bit high for some of them.

I bid as I though the postage calculator would adjust when I put my postcode in.

I have unsucessfully now tried to contact seller.

retracting a bid because you are unable to contact a seller is a valid reason for eBay.

Re: Excess postage costs in ad

I did contact sellers asking them to review the postage calculations/cost. I got no reply.

Sadly I had to go to work and there is only 14mins left.

So I have learnt a lesson. Maybe a Negative review may make me feel better.

I also contacted ebay re their "automated" responses but didnt hear back.

How do you speak to an Ebay rep? I just kept getting pre emted replies on the contact forms 😞

Re: Excess postage costs in ad

To speak to a rep go to customer support top right. Then contact eBay, then ask what you need and you will be given contact options. Go back and ask something else if you do not get a phone number, because they also give you a one-off code to use so they know it is you.

Re: Excess postage costs in ad

Here's the number I get to call: 1800 088 741

that was by going to support (as above), then clicking on selling, then listings, then on the right "call us"

So try that as they like the code if possible.
