Is the seller in Australia? If so then you can try emailing them and telling them that you have received a counterfeit item and unless they refund you within 48 hours you will report them to the right's owner and the police. That may scare them into refunding but if they are a practiced scammer or actually overseas although they don't appear to be they will just tell you to go forth and multiply or send it back for a refund.
Your other option is to open a Paypal dispute for item not as described, presuming you paid that way, unfortunately unless you can get 3rd party confirmation on company headed notepaper that the item is fake you will still have to pay to return it by trackable means.
It says in this book I am reading that by 2065 80% of women will be overweight.

However, if it doesn't work, I would be lodging a Paypal dispute and claiming SNAD. If you really want to go the counterfeit route, it means getting third party written confirmation (probably from Apple themselves) and I'm not sure they'd be all that inclined to help you anyway, given that you didn't buy it from them in the first place.
I'm guessing that you probably knew it wasn't genuine anyway because the only place you can be certain of buying genuine Apple parts is from Apple themselves, so whatever happens, look upon it as a learning experience and don't get caught out again.

Quote: Yes, it looks different from the original, but I'd still be trying it anyway
.
I believe that is very poor advice โฆ are you going to take responsibly if it damages the OPโs iphone ?
.
Of course we know the answer to that !
.
To use non genuine parts on anything is fraught with danger
.
Could do irreparable damage โฆ if under warranty, would/could in most cases void the warranty
.
If it was sold as a genuine article and is counterfeit โฆ Do not use it !
.
If a seller is prepared to deceive you in the description then they are prepared to deceive you in the quality of the product and it would be guaranteed to be substandard
.
Lodge a Paypal claim

"To use non genuine parts on anything is fraught with danger"
That's quite a ridiculous i'll in formed blanket statement.
I take the utmost offence at that statement, please prove my parts are not as good as genuine, and prove to me the danger using
aftermarket parts in my field or retract your outrageous statement.
I'm happy to provide 1/ 2 years warranty, some items 10 years, in most cases you get a limited warranty if any on genuine parts in my field.

From Hyundai web site:
.
Such low-quality parts may not meet Australian Design Rules and putting them in your Hyundai could affect the warranty
.
From the Volvo web site:
.
And only genuine Volvo parts are guaranteed to offer the right quality and give you the right prerequisites for profitable operations. Saving a few dollars can cost a fortune!
.
From the Ford web site:
.
Because Ford is a vehicle manufacturer, we are required to meet Australian Design Standards. As non-genuine part manufacturers only produce parts, they are not obliged to meet these standards. With Genuine Ford Parts you can be assured of the highest standards of quality, fit and finish.
.
ETC ETC ETC
.
Non genuine/counterfeit products are usually junk

Also sellers of non genuine/counterfeit products can sometimes use deceptive advertising
.
They may use expressions such as:
.
A Brand New Evinrude Johnson Outboard Starter Motor
.
When in fact, it is NOT an Evinrude product โฆ it may fit/suit an Evinrude โฆ BUT โฆ is not a genuine part โฆ
.
But the title gives the impression that it is !
.
Thus misleading โฆ and really should be reported to ebay

Im having trouble with your examples-
From Hyundai web site:
.
Such low-quality parts may not meet Australian Design Rules and putting them in your Hyundai could affect the warranty
Such low-quality parts may not meet Australian Design Rules- I can't see where it say's they DO NOT meet Australian Design Rules.
.
From the Volvo web site:
.
And only genuine Volvo parts are guaranteed to offer the right quality and give you the right prerequisites for profitable operations. Saving a few dollars can cost a fortune! - Same here!
As non-genuine part manufacturers only produce parts, they are not obliged to meet these standards.
I fail again, i can't see where it says they DON'T meet Aus Rules.
.
ETC ETC ETC
.
Non genuine/counterfeit products are usually junk
And again, you use the word USUALLY, so you proof about aftermarket in my field is where?

So you would have me say 'Brand new outboard starter motor suits outboard" in my decription it tell you, nothing to hide here.
But i could understand how that would confuse you, your mind set is one size fits all, hence your blanket statement about non genuine parts. lol
