Feedback aint what it used to be

I just bought an item which was the wrong one and got dreadful service trying to replace it which is still yet to happen so, quite reasonably I thought , I left negative feedback for the company .  It was posted when I wrote it but has since vanished . Is this common now that if you don't like the feedback you are given you just ask eBay to delete it?

Re: Feedback aint what it used to be

'sent the wrong item and provided zero customer service'   was a pretty good guess .

I think I said something along the lines of "sent the wrong item and then provided very poor service "  and " then dropped off the radar and didn't answer my messages . "

They only stated to respond again AFTER giving them the negative feedback .

They then made promises they didn't keep , got the feedback deleted and still haven't sent the replacement item .

Re: Feedback aint what it used to be

That sounds like eBay .

And I checked and as you suggested  there is now no option for me to give feedback on this item which is very convenient for this lousy seller who can continue to dud eBay buyers with impunity .

And I still haven't received the item I paid for weeks ago !!

Re: Feedback aint what it used to be

What happened was I got sent the wrong item which the company said they would replace but only after I returned the original item . They promised to send the replacement by express post as soon as they were notified by the PO that the return label they had sent me was used . This was done first thing  last Monday and I notified them of this too . As i understand it express post is not supposed to take more than 2 days but it is now Friday and it has not arrived. As the person I have been dealing with has already lied about sending emails and phoning me ( he doesn't even have my number)  I am not very confident of getting this item anytime soon . So it annoys me that a seller can behave in this manner and still escape negative feedback for doing so.

Re: Feedback aint what it used to be

Sorry to hear you are having difficulties.

I'm not very bright however I do things a different way.

If I receive an incorrect item I open a case for Item Not As Described.

If the seller does not accept the return I ask eBay to step in & I receive a refund.

I never ask for a replacement.

If the seller deals with the return in an acceptable manner then all is well & I leave positive feedback.

I wait a few weeks to leave feedback... never had a neg removed.

Re: Feedback aint what it used to be

Maybe your approach is best . But usually I prefer to resolve things more informally . And this approach started off OK but rapidly went down hill when the seller had to get past making promises and start trying to rectify the situation . I find generally speaking that trustworthy people trust others so I should have guessed when the seller insisted on proof of my sending the dud item back before sending the replacement one I was headed for trouble.

Re: Feedback aint what it used to be

It's good to be trusting but with a business transaction, it is probably better to handle it in a business like way.

That is, if you receive the wrong item, go for an official' not as described' claim on ebay. The process will be similar in that you will be issued a return label and get a refund when the item is sent back.

You could then, if you wished, re-buy the item and hopefully get the correct one second time around.

What it solves is all this uncertainty as to what is happening as you say you still haven't received a replacement.

I am wondering if you can still open an ebay claim for item not received as you seem to have all the return details etc. I'm not a seller but someone who is will be able to tell you.

The feedback is the least of your worries but there are a few things you can't mention or it gives the seller a chance to apply to have it removed, so it's best to know what's in the 'can't say' basket.

Re: Feedback aint what it used to be

I have made it official now but the result so far is just more lies from the seller about how they tried in vain to contact me , have not received notification that the return label was used, and that I also messaged them to this effect . I can't decide if they are unmitigated liars or grossly incompetent ..probably both I fear .

I am starting to wonder if I still want their safety glasses as I feel sure if ever by some miracle they do turn up whenever I put them i will be reminded of the creatures who sold them to me.

But it still annoys me they can behave so dishonestly but escape negative feedback for this behaviour because they have learned how rig the game.

Re: Feedback aint what it used to be

If you used their return label, it will have tracking.

Have you uploaded that tracking into the dispute, and what does it say?

I think the seller got the neg removed because they have done everything required,  to help.

That is, they sent you a label to return the  item.

You made the process difficult, not the seller, and yet you blame them.

There was no need for a negative at that stage.

You jumped the gun, it seems.

Giving the neg has now given them cause to be unhelpful now.

Re: Feedback aint what it used to be

I am not going to argue with too but you don't know what you are talking about here as you are not privy to what was said by either of us .. but that never stopped an eBay promoting  keyboard warrior such as your self butting in did it?

Re: Feedback aint what it used to be

I based my reply on what you have posted.

Are some of your 'facts' not true then?

Did you upload the tracking or not, and what does it say?

*overused reference if ever there was one - keyboard warrior
