Global Priority Shipping to Australia is being sent ECONOMY *** Aussie buyers beware this service!!

Hi to all buyers from australia purchasing goods under the global priority shipping . I would suggest DONT !!

when the item is shipped ebay is apparently partnered with pitney bowes who take over the shipping on its destination to australia

and ALL the items when they arrive in Australia are shipped ECONOMY to us NOT priority as we paid for !

so we are paying three times as much than first class international airmail for this SERVICE and the ridiculous thing is first class airmail will arrive in Australia within 6-10 business days ,Global Priority is taking a month to six weeks !!!

why pay for this dodgy priority when in fact when it arrives in australia its shipped ECONOMY ..

so i am not going to buy from anyone using the global shipping program anymore .. its a ripoff for the aussie buyers !

I have called ebay several times about this and emailed them copies of the tracking which CLEARLY shows that once the parcel hits australia its economy all the way ! The few times i called the ebay consultant  said yes we can see that , and will look into it and NEVER got back to me... which i figured would happen

someone is making a HUGE profit from this service its either pitney bowes or ebay !!

So if we all stop buying from sellers who use this program it might change ..i have been buying on ebay for many years .. and until this service was introduced you could really rely on the international shipping arrival time .

i dont mind paying for a service but we are NOT getting the service we paid for !!

I am currently waiting on 3 parcels from USA , all shipped global priority . Paid for over a month ago !

Still in transit .. for two of the parcels i paid over $30 priority shipping.. the other was $28 .. but the seller doesnt benefit at all.. in fact they dont even SEE the extra shipping cost that we incur on the invoice ..

so ebay please start sending our parcels PRIORITY ..which is what we are paying for ..thats all i ask !

A long time ago (when I didn't know yet) I saw an item I liked located in the UK and postage was very expensive and indicated as "express". So I remember that I contacted the seller and said that I didn't need express postage as it was not urgent and asked if they could send it normally, but they replied eBay had called it "express" and they didn't know how to change it.

Now I know it is PB. I buy  more from the UK than the USA, and their usual terminology is either "express" or "expedited delivery". I really don't know how they can call it express or expedited if it is not, and if it is actually even slower than normal postage. Even worse, apparently buyers are not allowed to give negative fb about postage if sellers choose PB. If they give negative fb (for example if they mention it was slow) sellers can contact eBay and have it removed. I avoid PB if possible. I have only used it twice so far.

I've only used the GSP when I had absolutely no choice.  It worked but it wasn't exactly express.

I am fed up with the number of sellers in the US and UK only offering the GSP.  Grrrr.

My last purchase from the UK sent by Royal Mail tracked, from payment to delivery took 7 days.  Let's see the GSP manage that.  'Expedited Delivery'....yeah, right.

WOW! Thanks for the heads up. I had no idea, even with the 195 other threads about the subject.

The first item I bought via GSP was half the cost of USPS (it was a large item). It arrived in 5 days. The other 2 lots arrived in 7 and 9 days respectively. I'm probably just lucky. Who knows?

As for hammering eBay about it, you're wasting your time. The service has been in the US for years now and more recently introduced into the UK. It ain't going away. Just do what the rest of us do and avoid buying from sellers who use it. It's very easy to detect the items both in the search results, and inside the listing. I don't even bother clicking on them.

Hi victoriandoll2 , amont the many other valid reasons for not using GSP,  there's also the issues of increased damage and theft, not to mention invasion of privacy. Items when re-packed at their so-called depot afre in the hands of people who may have the ICNGAS   attitude(I Could Not Give A Stuff)  when repacking. Twice this was evidenced by me and one item was damaged beyond repair.

Not everything gets repacked.....I have had 2 parcels from the USA and 3 from the UK via the GSP and NONE of them were repacked.

N@4channel

not to mention invasion of privacy

I don’t see there being an invasion of privacy as buyers willingly buy the item that has GSP included.  By doing so they agree to the item being sent to PB and having PB handle to international portion of the shipping.

If a buyer has privacy concerns surrounding the items with GSP shipping the just don’t buy them.  The buyer has the choice. Before buying the buyer has all the power in a potential transaction.

So why mention it, privacy isn’t really worth mentioning.

I believe 4channel is complaining about FedEx asking him for his full name, address and phone number (and possibly some other details) so they could deliver his parcel here in Australia.   That was apparently an invasion of his privacy

I'm pretty sure that asking for a phone number is fairly common from couriers is it not ? I've certainly been asked for that in the past by courier companies.

thanks for that lyndal.

I have had courier deliveries here and understand their need to have a contact phone number.  They obviously need my name and address to deliver the package, and I am glad they ask for ID when I sign for a package.
