I won't buy from any sellers using the Global shipping program.
It is an unreasonable fee; especially when import fees do not apply in countries like Australia..
Also, shipping direct is quicker and more reliable.
I've heard the horror stories with it and Sellers from the US in particular should understand that they stand to loose quite a few sales due to being signed up to this unreasonable program.
Ah well, they may or may not care.
Stay safe everyone.

If there are no import duties payable, they don't charge it.
The GSP charge includes delivery, admin fees, GST, admin charges for collecting GST PLUS any applicable duties.
You might have noticed there is no separate delivery charge quoted by the GSP.

I found a US seller, selling the same product and they ship direct. Good thing that I searched for a US seller not using Global shipping. The seller had a better feedback percentage and the product was slightly cheaper; Direct shipping cheaper as well.
MY solution if you can find a seller selling the same product without Global shipping, it would be worth the search.
Good luck everyone 🙂
They just don't know how, or they don't want to.

I'm glad it worked out for you this time. The majority of sellers who I have approached are happy to change to USPS for the US. And same fot the UK etc.. Keep in mind though that you may have to wake up around 3 am to see if your seller has done it yet. And if so, get the item then There's the risk that some keen-eyed buyer can snap it up in the mean time.
I've bought from some sellers who've sent my item via economy. Both times or so it's only been about a week longer than USPS First Class AirMail. Nice and cheap too. But in these troubled times, maybe not the best service to use to to tracking issues. In saying that, I'd go for it with a top rated seller and one I've dealt with in the past.

This is a total Rip off
Import duties are taken when not required to be paid
shipping is 3 /5 times as long as a regular transaction via AIR
Ebay must be getting backhanders from Pitney Bowes to allow them to rip Ozzies off its DISGUSTING

I am in agreement, the mail cost is 100% on top of direct international mail, the items travel all around the USA to KY before they leave the USA (2-3 weeks) then another 2-3 weeks to get to the final destination (if they arrive at all) so 4-6 weeks plus to delivery. There is no tracking number for the domestic courier in Australia so once the item leaves KY who knows where it is or when it will be delivered. Surely the Consumer watchdogs are all over this????? Worst service and feel totally ripped off. Doesn't ebay may enough profit already without having to have such high margins on Global shipping ( or is the cost due to the 2-3 week itinery in getting from the seller to KY???) - shocker - will never buy again from sellers who use this service. Have 2 items waiting (didn't check at the time) haven't even left the sellers but at lease the 'shipping label' has been done !! - almost 1 week later. I've decided to buy domestically and give the USA a miss

Hi, I hear you and I understand your frustration. OK, if you look at what I posted in Message #23 , you'll see that I have great success in getting sellers to change to USPS First Class etc.
Looking at a below post from the US by member: elmih22, you can see what the sellers need ti do and you can C&P the first part to a seller who may not know what to do. There's also some necessary info by elmih not mentioned on this thread.
How to opt out of global shipping program07-10-2013 12:42 AM
You CAN opt out of the Global Shipping Program.
Go to:
My eBay > My account > Site Preferences > Shipping preferences > EDIT > click 'yes' on 'opt out of the GSP > you will get this:
'You successfully opted out of the Global Shipping Program'.
Also you can 'check' the countries/continents where you do NOT want to ship to. You can check all the places you do NOT want to ship to, besides countries/continents - like PO Boxes, etc.
Also, it is better to always check your listing to be sure that the box for 'GSP' is not checked by eBay.I had my own experience where
I checked all places where i do not want to ship to - but i found anyway few of my listings with the box GSP checked. I had to review the listings and 'uncheck' the box for GSP
You shouldn't let a hurdle put you off buying from the US as that could indeed be the only place you'll find that special and desired item.
There are some other interesting posts on that thread. One suggestion on a following post may or may not be possible nowadays.

Yes, an absolute scam. I believe most sellers don't realise it's been included as they have to opt out rather than opt in. As a result, you will notice that most sellers with it will still have the full international postage charge in addition, as opposed to the domestic charge that they should have with gsp. Add to this over inflated postage costs and the non existent customs charges they include by default and it makes it very expensive. It should come as no surprise from a company that charges you a final fee on postage costs.

Shock, horror! Do they really do that?
They must be the only "company" in the world that bases their fee on the total amount of the transaction.... oh wait!
