Haven't received my item, its been 30 days, I think i might have been scammed! Any advice?

Hello all,

I purchased an eyeshadow palette on ebay, which cost me $61.80. This palette is not sold where I live, so I knew I was taking the gamble to buy it on ebay when in the back of my mind I sensed the possibility of getting scammed. I went through with the payment on the 29th of April 2014. I even emailed the seller before buying the item to make sure it was authentic, and he responded back saying yes it is authentic, or else we will be happy to refund back the amount plus postage. Convincingly, I went ahead with payment and a day later the seller marked the item as posted and also sent me a message saying 'thank you purchasing from us, we are 100% authentic and can't wait for your item to be delivered to you'. I felt convinced and thought I just needed to play the waiting game. The item was being posted from Israel. Since then, its been 30 days and I'm not sure any of my packages have ever taken this long to arrive, I have my doubts that it could be stuck at customs but then I'm also thinking I might have been scammed. Long story short, a few days after the postage of my item, the item had been removed and the seller was no longer a registered user.

My ebay summary says: We had to remove this listing from the site and you're not required to complete the transaction. If you've already sent payment, the sale should process as normal and you don't have anything to worry about. If you have any questions about delivery, please check tracking or contact your seller. If you run into any trouble along the way eBay is here to help. Please visit the Resolution Centre to help resolve any problems you may encounter

I was a bit curious so I searched up the same eyeshadow palette again on ebay, and looked for the cheapest price. I found a few sellers that had recently registered with ebay and were selling the exact same palette with the same pictures and same description. I have this strong feeling, it is the same seller who has mutiple accounts (but based in Israel). I'm not sure how many other people are in a situation like this as me. Does any one have any advice for me? I have lodged a claim through ebay and paypal. Some feedback would be lovely! Thanks guys!

Yes, it is the same seller but with a different name. I already escalated the claim, but is there anything else I need to do?

Thanks again!

Hi,

The seller is no longer a registered user, so there is no way to contact them. I have escalated the claim, but still waiting. Ignore my naiveness, but If I could just ask what a non-receipt is, and what am I supposed to do?

Thanks again 🙂

Non-receipt is just that.....you have not received your items, which is why you have opened a dispute.

if this is the case then ebay should do something about it. Will they? No..

I mean against everyone including the buyer,

Of course they will. Why would you suggest otherwise?

Hi,

Do you always end up getting your money back in a situation like this? And if so, is the whole amount or part of it? I know I'm going overboard with my questions, but how does ebay actually give you back the money, considering the seller isn't registered anymore and probably deleted his account, or closed down his PayPal account?

Thank you 🙂

Paypal will refund the entire amount you paid, including the postage component. If you funded your payment with a credit card, it will be credited back to your card's balance, otherwise it will appear in your Paypal balance for you to either spend at a later date, or transfer back to your bank account if you prefer.

Should the seller have already withdrawn the funds from his account, Paypal will still reimburse you, but it will be from their own coffers and they will then chase the seller for their money, so you can believe us when we tell you that you should have nothing to worry about.

The exact same thing happened to me, purchased a Urban Decay Naked 3 (authentic) palette on eBay for $51.20 from Israel, free express postage. A day after I finalised the payment I received a message from eBay saying something like the eBay member was no longer registered as a member. And I had nothing to worry about as I already paid for the item that it should be on its way. So I had no way to contact them in order to make sure they were gonna send it and it wasn't a scam. So I waited till the estimated delivery time, and still nothing arrived. Also on my eBay account nothing had been posted up also to say by the seller that it had been posted. I went back into their profile account to see what others items they had for sale, and I looked to see how long they had been a eBay member for, said they had only been a member a month or so prior to me purchasing this item off them. I re looked over my payment details to them to see the delivery dates had been changed an put back a month an a half. So I went and re searched the makeup palette again to see if they must be selling the same thing under another account name also. Found the same pictures, description, everything on another item from a member also based from Israel, so I looked to see how long they had been a member, only a few weeks. Had the same makeup products as the member I purchased my makeup from. So alarm bells ringing off, I've been scammed. I contacted resolution centre, and followed the steps to the actions I'd like to take and what happened. You can either email PayPal as to what happened and explain your case, or you can also ring them and they can help you through the steps to lodge a report against them, and I also explained how I've seen the exact same stuff on another member based in Israel so they took the matters into their hands, few weeks later I've now recieved a full refunded of what I paid for the makeup and will most definitely be a lot more careful and not rushing into anything online especially over seas before looking around first off. I hope this helps you. Can easily be done, just make sure you have it all done and dusted and have lodged a complaint before a certain time as if it's after a certain amount of days I think it's like 20-30 days, it may be too late for them to handle it or something I was told by PayPal. Hope this was helpful for everyone!
