Hi,has any members had problems with the Global Shipping program. It would seem that another party has been added just to double our chances of a mistake. The contract is between buyer and seller on the ebay site and it is hard enough to recieve an item without damage and in a reasonable time without it being duplicated in the shipping process.Unable to contact the global Shipping Co so where do we get any help.

It's a lousy way to rip off Australian buyers. We are expected to pay the postage between the seller and the shipping co. then the package is put into a larger box because larger boxes attract higher charges, don't they?
Then, let's talk about the time factor. A package sent directly from the seller to the buyer obviously has to arrive sooner than one sent first of all to the shipping centre and then onto the buyer.
Stick your Global Shipping Program where the sun don't shine.
If I can no longer buy what I want without having to use the GSP life will go on and I'll save a LOT of money.

Beware - don't touch any seller using the program. They send to the third party - who I might add REPACKAGE THE item and not very well. This is to make the item lighter for the purpose of cheaper costs for them. They also send via the cheaper US international service - so you may have paid say $50 for postage however your item will be sent via a service for approx $20.00 nice PROFIT for them - they also charge custom duties (Which we do not have in OZ) however still have to pay. TOTAL RIP OFF which puts profits in Ebays pocket - Check our who OWNS them or has a large piece of them.
This post is almost totally wrong.
Items are not routinely repackaged.
They are sent by airfreight, not a postal service.
Items under $1000 declared value are not charged import sales tax by the Australan Gov., and ebay items are not charged import sales tax on GSP items under $1000 when the item is purchased.
By all means avoid GSP sellers, for what I'd say are the majority of items listed it is wildly inappropriate. It can be cost effective for items over 2 kilos, with good savings on shipping for heavier items, but you do need to do the sums to decide just when the shipping saving kicks in.

What would be the point of this?By the time the item reaches the Erlanger depot the shipping charges from there to the destination have already been paid. Inflating the cost at this point would be silly. In general items are forwarded as packed by the seller.

If the central leg of the journey, from Kentucky to the user, including customs clearance is far faster than normal postal speeds, the overall transit time can be shorter.
There are innumerable problems with the GSP but let's stick to the rational ones.

Hi, I bought from a buyer who used GSP only to find i couldn't combine shipping and it cost me $US 112.63 for 1 A4 sized envelope that all arrived in one package, after being told they do not support combined postage by Ebay. not happy and it put me off buying from US Sellers completely.

Why avoid non GSP sellers? Why penalise the innocent and deprive yourself?
More to the point, why did you pay when you saw what it was going to cost?

The program is simply useless, does nothing for buyer but extra cost and time.
Tracking is poor, very slow and seldom update, meaning unable to track the item.
For the case of shipment from the States to Japan, it took 6 days from US export centre to destination customs then held there being the reason of 'Customs clearance delay' for days... item has not yet released from customs more than 3 days.
In contrast, shipping under USPS, it normally takes 3 days for travel from US to Japan Customs and another one day maximum in the customs office even if the item is opened, examined and charged import duties... and NEVER EVER damaged or went missing!!!
The program is there to protect eBay itself but not for the buyers, STOP IT!!!

Yes on the phone to Pay Pal now...2nd time I've used it and second time I've had a problem. First time around only half the order turned up and I got a refund on the item and the freight.
This time around it's 15 days after the ETA and I haven't seen the goods - Paypal want me to wait one more day before they will refund. It's a shame because I really wanted the item I purchased and there's none left.
Will never use this service again and if I can't get around it on ebay I will try and get the sellers site details and do the transaction off ebay.

Same happened to me. The Seller had packed the 4 songbooks into one A4 sized Manila envelope, yet I received 4 notifications from GSP with 4 separate charges totalling $75 ... when there should only have been one charge of about $20. Total rip off.
I have have spoken with eBay 3-4 times and the issue not been resolved. I have now emailed Pitney Bowes direct and hope to get a reply this time.
it is fraudulent

In ther end I had to give up on it.

There is no combined shipping with the GSP.
You would have seen the postage cost before you paid.
That would have been the time to back out of the purchase.
You won't get your excess postage refunded.
