How can we stop eBay users from listing items then not sending items after you have paid for item, don't you think there should be some sort of penelty as in never allowed to use eBay banned for good.

Problem is i brought a cannon 7D for $701 item 191363946724  paid for it straight after auction ended, The point is it was brought for my daughters birthday now i may have to buy new one out of retail shop so in fact this eBayer cost me $400 in the differance between the two items.

There appeares to be no rules when you buy on eBay sites, i consider my self to be an execellent eBayer and pay straight after bidding do i change things and go with the rest that some do and maybe pay latter or cancel cause i have had second thoughts?

Which, had you read the boards or 'brushed up' on buyer protection, you would have been aware that this "but had only sold 13 items low cost" would be a red rag to any discerning buyer and a reason to tread carefully.

I am sorry, but I am only replying to your OP where you ask why eBay continue to let 'frauds' sell., what can we do about it?........and I stand by my first and consequent replies, that a buyer can only be ripped off by a fraudulent seller if they allow themselves to be.

Re: How can we stop eBay users from listing items then not sending, after you have paid for item

The low cost items would have been to get some quick feedback. If they were selling a camera with 0 feedback, very few people would look at them as that's what scammers do.

Keep an eye on the sales. With Christmas coming up, the big stores are all going to start having sales soon. I know Hardly Normal often has sales on cameras. Things like that you are far better buying new from a real store. You get a valid warranty and you know (hope) there is nothing wrong with it.  Do your homework now. There are some good sites where you can compare models and brands. Work out exactly what you want, then when the sales do come on you can go straight in and buy what you want.

How would you know a second hand camera online wasn't stolen? How do you know it hasn't been dropped? I was tempted to buy my new Nikon online, but when I sat back and really thought about it, it made more sense to buy it locally. I ended up getting it from Camera House, which was dearer than Hardly Normal, but I have been back a few times now asking how do I do this, or how do I do that, what's this for, what does that setting mean, so it was really worth it. I also know that if anything happens to it, I can take it back.

The other advantage to buying locally is, often you can get a package where the lenses come with the camera. Mine came with 2. The larger one alone is worth nearly $500. Half the cost of the camera. To buy the bare camera without the lenses wasn't that much cheaper than getting them with.

Hi OP, sorry but I'm going to play 'devil's advocate' here.

Your statement above is not entirely accurate, on September 1st the seller sold for $798.98 the exact same camera that you purchased on October 12th for $701, (see #191305277441)  If they are legit, for some reason the sale fell through & they had relisted the camera. If they aren't legit... it looks like they're doubling down.

Being in WA it may take some time to reach you if you are on the East Coast, as the camera wouldn't have been able to be shipped express/by air, due to the lithium battery that's with it, although I still would have expected it to have arrived by now. I do recall reading a post in the last 24hrs from a forum regular mentioning they had received a parcel from WA recently which apparently took quite a long time to arrive.

Have you contacted the seller? If so, what did they say regarding their posting it? It's possible it may still be on the way, I pont out that nowhere in their listing description has the seller given an estimate for delivery times. You would have had one via the automated postage calculator, but that's from ebay (not the seller) & is strictly only an estimate based on Aus Post best case scenario delivery times, it is often wrong.

If you are assuming Paypal will refund you, you may be in for a surprise if the seller can provide evidence they did send it to you, and especially if it subsequently arrives & they can prove that. Unless you can afford to pay for two camera's, just be careful about buying a new camera based on the assumption that you will definitely be refunded by Paypal.

Best of luck, and welcome to the ebay discussion boards.

Look, it sucks, I know that Smiley Mad

Your only real fault is that you most likely think all others are as honest as you, and sadly, that is not the case.

Read up on all procedures, come here if you need advice (preferably BEFORE paying) and only ever pay with paypal, never let a seller string you along over the claim time, never feel stupid asking a question here....

How do you think all of the volunteers learnt what they know ? they stuffed up here and there and then asked for advice from others more knowledgable.

But most importantly, accept the advice in the spirit in which it is given,

none of us here want to see you hurt......Smiley Happy

Now, after removing my 'devil's advocate' hat, I'd just like to add...

I feel badly for you that this purchase has been troublesome. Procuring the presents for loved ones is meant to be half the fun of giving them, so it sucks that this may leave a sour taste for you. Smiley Frustrated
