I am sickened by the fact dealers are able to make bids on 20 or more items at any given time and most the time it is items i have bid on, these people keep stealing items i try purchasing, how do i report them and why are they allowed to do so, Ebay is meant to be for individuals trying to buy and sell second hand items or items they have no use for to make a few bucks, but that enjoyment is fast being taken by dealers coming in here and taking every chance we have as legit buyers to buy something we want and save a few bucks in the process, E.G, i made a bid on a laptop with a starting price of 0.99, i started at 20aud and the item had 6 days remaining, not even 10 minutes had passed and someone outbid me with 50aud, then another person who is still on that item has made bid 200aud not giving me a chance to make another offer, i am a pensioner, i try hard to get what i can when i can, and these people get away with wild bids long before the end time, it should be controlled or have a limit of 5 items per day to bid on and anything above that will not be allowed, thus giving myself and others in my situation a better chance at getting what we bid for....ANY ANSWER WILL APPRECIATED.

Hey thankyou mate, at least someone could give a good response and not have so much negativity, this was done for to show a friend what people think about such topics and for my essay on the subject matter. Once again thank you and good luck in the future, and thanks for the advise about Gumtree.

You hit the nail right on the head with this response mate, exactly what i was talking about when i posted the topic, and great response.......Cheers.

Yes you are right, but i was thinking of it as more of a sort of questionable solution for all Ebay Sellers and Buyers not as a solution to my own needs, so as the topic would get something but not so extreme, anyway i got what i needed. thank you for the response and to the point.
I do and can realise the way you have put it to me, but i was thinking in the way of an individual who did want to have a solution to his or her way of thinking, but as i said i should have ask the tpoic with a different approach.
I have my essay now with the types of answers needed, and my friend, well he laughed cause he did not have to deal with the responses lol.

@bluephoenix50 wrote:Well these responses are typical and very slefish of many of you as you have all taken my post to the extremes, see i wrote that to prove a point to a friend about a topic of how many a sentence and or statements can and are often taken out of the context of why they are said or written and thank you all for your proven bias and quite nasty statements, maybe someday someone with the right brains will actually ask the question for a more unbias response and not so daming nature as to the response i got here, and by the way, i don't give a **** about who bids or outbids me, this was just a few sentences to get some responses to see what attitudes many people would have, and to get some opinions on what people thought of such a hypocritical statement, if you look hard enough you will see that it was only a hypothectical question not and actual complaint, oh yes, AND BY THE WAY, I LOVE EBAY, if i thought it was wrong i would not be on it. and yes i would have missed out on many of the playstations games had i not fought hard as i did to win them. I was outbid many times so there is no need to dig into what i buy, i certainly did not do that type of thing to you lot.
keep to the topic not my purchases.
okay, I'll take the bait!
Firstly, your opening post sounded very much like a complaint. It had all the hallmarks of a complaint, with language such as "I am sickened by the fact dealers are able . . . " and " . . . but that enjoyment is fast being taken by dealers coming in here . . . . " and there are more . . . . . but I am tired, so I will leave it at two examples as I have more to say before finishing this post.
Secondly, looking at your feedback to see the items you have bought is on topic. You were complaining saying that you miss out on items because of dealers and suggesting a course of action that eBay could take. Looking at your buying to highlight the effects that your suggestions might have on you is on topic, especially limiting the number of items one can bid on per day.
Thirdly, you are now telling us that your Opening Post was a "hypothetical", but the way it was presented made it look more like a complaint, a wind-up, or you just taking the p*ss.
Fourthly, you lied! Towards the end of your Opening Post you stated "ANY ANSWER WILL APPRECIATED" yet you have come back here and shown very little appreciation for some of the responses from a number of posters.
Stick that in your essay!

Well, it's good to know that the forum was able to resolve at least one issue (that is, provide the material needed for an essay), ๐ though to be honest I think you will find some people won't take too kindly to being informed they were the unwilling participants in a social experiment - but I suspect you may be able to allay that somewhat if the essay is of significant acedemic merit.
For your own benefit, I would highly recommend full disclosure at this point (essay statement / argument, where it will be submitted, especially if there is a chance it will be published), if/how participants information will be used (which will need permissions), and so forth.

Hope you are going to run the spellchecker over your essay before submitting it! Your posts have some spelling mistakes. Lithium have even given us a spellchecker for our posts which we can use before submitting a post.
I'll save you some time . . . . here's just a few to help you on the way
slefish, unbias, daming, hypothectical in post #18
tpoic in post #25
Additionally, I would also avoid the use of " i " instead of " I ", and eBay is not spelt as ebay or EBAY or Ebay (even the spellchecker picks up this one)
Good luck with your essay

You remind me of another student of human nature who set out to collect material for an essay on tribal customs. In his case it wasn't eBay he chose but a tribe in the remote Highlands of Papua New Guinea. He approached them with some trepidation, but to his surprise and delight they welcomed him as an honoured guest. They buit himh im a beautiful grass hut, fed him the choicest food and provided him with a bevy of their most beautiful maidens to wait on him hand and foot and provide him with 'comforts' at night. For a whole month they treated him like a king and then, at the next full moon, they held a big feast for all the tribe .............. and ate him.
