Hi, I bought an item in February which has now failed. I have contacted the seller and he has requested that I start a rerturn through ebay but I am unable to find out how to do this as there is no return option in the received goods listing? Thanks John.

It reflects poorly on you. You, as the buyer have all the power.
As you admitted, you were silly.
Consumer protection doesn't generally cover silly.

Not sure why you believe it reflects badly on Ebay, you waited months to test them, and months to try to apply for the MBG. Don't blame Ebay for something that was out of their control.
I guess you would have liked Ebay to ring you and say are they ok
