Just curious about other peoples opinion.
I have watched something get relisted over and over again for the last 18 months for the same price.
This item wil never ever sell at the price they want for it.....it even got to the point where I emailed them to give them the low down on what items sell for in that category, with comparison items.
Got a very pleasant email back saying thank you - but there is the item again for the same price, and that price means serious listing fees.
I really feel for this seller - they are wasting money yet they are still on the ebay merry go round....should there be a limit?

As far as I can see it is pretty much only "encouraged" to use posting IDs by a very small number of regular posters.
There are no ebay policies that encourage such use. Ring ebay to confirm this yourself. It is not against policy to do it, but it is not a practice that ebay promotes either. It is an individual decision to do so.
Based on previous posts over time, my understanding is that many, many years ago a couple of ebay customer service reps suggested use of posting IDs in the situation where sellers were the recipients of malicious bidding and buying activity that may have been related to their discussion board posts.

That quote is very corny, arnl.
Not that I necessarily disagree... but in some ways, yeah, I probably do.

There used to be a locked thread at the top of the "Member To Member" forum advising that the use of a posting ID was a good idea for sellers.
The thread was started by a regular poster way back then and a staff member from ebay had also posted on it.
A long time ago the forums were changed about and "Ask a Member" was introduced and MTM was retired and then a few years ago "Ask a Member" was archived.
So those that say it was suggested by ebay are half right in that the staffer agreed with the advice given by a regular poster about getting a posting ID.
Surely someone has a screen shot of that thread,( it would appear some have screen shots of everything that ever happened on ebay).
I think the original poster was wolette2 ????
Can anyone else remember the ID of the poster?

I am not really sure a thread from several years ago bump based on advice from one staff rep who posted on a forum discussion, will make much difference to how a range of posters react to posting IDs.

I don't think it amounts to anything, I was just trying to provide an answer for those asking about ebay's policy on posting IDs.
There is no policy, just myth and folklore.

As long as ebay has no rules against members having more than one ID, what does it matter how you use them when it comes to posting on the boards.
Why would sellers risk being reported for Advertising on the boards just because they post with their selling ID?
