Thanks for your reply.

Yes the 60 days is not long enough..  I do pay by paypal only.. and  they are trying to contact the seller  to encourage the seller to respond to my email request of either a refund or get the thing delivered..  There is much wrong with ebay and paypal ' which is ebay anyway' I've been lucky to only have this dispute and one other where I found out just how arrogant and uncommunicative ebay really is.  Their tack is to drive one crazy no doubt with their idiotic email replies from a different imaginary person each time.. starting over again and again..      Anyway.. it's less than twenty bucks I guess that's a months pay  for a real worker in china...  Consider it a donatation...    Another chinese seller used an australian address to deliver yet had a different email addy for communication...   Ebay is very slack at picking up on all these scammers... Cheers

Re: How to give feedback on a purchase where the archived purchase has no feedback button

Hey crikey mate, what I am on about is that ebay have gave this guy an 100% rating and on looking thhrough his feed back he has 3 people giving extremely negative reports including calling this seller a fraudster and most common being not replying to messages

On going back to his site he now shows a rating of 99.2.  And as to the slow delivery (if it does arrive) I sent this seller a message prior to purchase asking him his estimated delivery time and should he have replied with a time that appeared not to suit I was going to request (and pay for) express delivery as a means of getting it before we went on holiday, however this guy failed to respond to my message as has he failed to respond to 5 other messages I have sent him.

As to his not speaking English that is open to debate as he is a seller of digital cameras and is selling to an international market including English speaking countries so surely to comply with ebays policies he must be able to answer questions put to him in the language of the countries he is selling to, and if he cant do that he should remove those countries from his selling list. Also he replied to a feedback message in English, and the message went something like  ' THE SHIPPING IS SLOW TO DUBAI (OR WHEREVER) SO DONT BLAME ME.

It also seems suspicious that untill the last few months he had all excellent feedback but over the last few months this feedback has seen a few irate customers leave extremely negative feedback

I'm not sure how he would have had 100% though if he had any negatives, so I would say he didn't have them at the time you purchased, and they came in afterwards.

On going back to his site he now shows a rating of 99.2.  That would be a result of his recent negatives And as to the slow delivery (if it does arrive) I sent this seller a message prior to purchase asking him his estimated delivery time and should he have replied with a time that appeared not to suit I was going to request (and pay for) express delivery as a means of getting it before we went on holiday, however this guy failed to respond to my message as has he failed to respond to 5 other messages I have sent him.

So, why did you proceed with the purchase? Even if he had have replied, he can't control the time the postal service takes to do their job, so as a general rule, if you want something in a hurry or by a specified date, don't buy on line.

As to his not speaking English that is open to debate as he is a seller of digital cameras and is selling to an international market including English speaking countries so surely to comply with ebays policies he must be able to answer questions put to him in the language of the countries he is selling to, apparently not, the language barrier is a common problem - I've seen plenty of Australian sellers selling in Australia who don't appear to have a grasp of their own langiage, far less any others and some countries do have several different languages as well and if he cant do that he should remove those countries from his selling list. Also he replied to a feedback message in English, and the message went something like  ' THE SHIPPING IS SLOW TO DUBAI (OR WHEREVER) SO DONT BLAME ME. ok, so it appears he does know English

It also seems suspicious that untill the last few months he had all excellent feedback but over the last few months this feedback has seen a few irate customers leave extremely negative feedback is it possible the seller is experiencing health issues? We've seen many examples of this on here - one seller had years of positive feedback, then all of a sudden the negs started rolling in.

Anyway, you have your PayPal protection and it does take 3 to 4 weeks (or even longer) for things to come from overseas sometimes, so all is not lost yet. Just keep an eye on your 45 day deadline (aim for September 15 max to make sure you don't miss the deadline) to raise a dispute with PayPal if the item doesn't show up.

Re: How to give feedback on a purchase where the archived purchase has no feedback button

Yeah your right about one thing and that is why did I go ahead with the purchase and to answer that I am an experienced ebayer and I gave my self from the date of purchase 5th August untill when we leave on holidays on the 15 September to get the item i purchased,

which should give me more than enough time to get it, and I made the purchase as ebay advised me that I had been given a second chance offer on the item that I had been low bid on, and I made the purchase without getting a response to my query regarding estimated delivery date as I believed 5 to 6 weeks is ample time to obtain the goods and as the listing stated that should I purchase and pay for the goods before 0700 AEST postage would be the same day, and we ensured that we paid for it by that time.

I recieived a message from ebay saying that the item was posted some 5 days after making the purchase.

So I guess you could say that my main gripe is in the fact that this seller has not responded to six messages sent to him,and that in itself is a cause for concern regarding if and when the goods may arrive.

As to your comment regarding had I thought that he may be ill, well the illness didn't prevent him accepting the sale nor did it prevent him from accepting other sales around that period, however I do not wish to sound ill mannered regarding some ones illness, however this guy runs a business and he has a duty of care to ensure his customers are not disadvataged.

I have been a seller as well as a buyer on ebay and I ensure that in my purchases payment is made immediately I am notified of being the winning bidder, and with the items I have sold I have ensured that the goods are posted the very next day or if the biddng is finished on a weekend it is posted AM Monday.

Re: How to give feedback on a purchase where the archived purchase has no feedback button

Hey crikey mate, in your next page topic you respond to 'what girls want' by saying that all parcels now come with a tracking number, and I make sure that I send a tracking number to the buyer that has purchased from me, however with regard to the seller I am having problems contacting, no tracking number was supplied and that is another reason that the whole thing smells a bit off.

Also the fact that should it arrive when I am away on holidays I will have no chance to check the items condition and as the seller stipulates faulty goods must be returned within 2 weeks of arrival, so should it be faulty it appears that I will be putting this purchase down to experience.

But by the time I leave for holidays it will have been 40 days (near 6 weeks) since making the purchase.

Re: How to give feedback on a purchase where the archived purchase has no feedback button

There was a thread on here a while ago now, a seller had a long history of very positive feedback, it was in the hundreds, maybe even the thousands? (I can't remember)

Anyway, all of a sudden, he started getting complaints about items not being posted. The negatives were rolling in in their scores. Other members were trying to bring it to eBay's attention, that it really did look like something was happening with this account.

For days, people kept buying, unawares that something was wrong. The members of the trading boards kept telling eBay, but each day we just watched as more and more people bought things despite the growing number of negatives. Some members even bought items knowing they were unlikely to receive them, just so that they could leave green dots amoungst the sea of red to try and alert future buyers that something was wrong with the account.

I don't know how that ended, I'm not sure if we ever found out, but for near on a week, eBay let this continue. Despite many efforts from the members here, eBay did not end the remaining listings with any speed. I'm sure it was because they had to make their own enquiries etc,, but it took them an incredibly long time to stop the damage and the bleeding.

Gristi, you say that sellers have a duty of care to make sure that their customers are not disadvanted, and I do agree, however I am not sure that someone ever plans to fall victim to some serious medical problem or a car accident etc.

I often think of that seller, and wonder if he did have a heart attack or similar, resulting in him being taken to hospital etc. and thinking about how badly his business was tarnished whilst he could possibly do nothing about it.

Cos here's the thing. Little Crikey got very sick just over 4 years ago now. She got a sinus infection that travelled to her brain, At 11 am she was enjoying her school holidays, at 4 pm she was a bit unwell. at 6pm she went to the doctors and by 8:30 that night she was given less than an hour to live. For seven weeks we didn't know if she would live or die from hour to hour. At that time, I owned three Franchises but I can promise you, that the furtherest things from my mind was the daily operation of those business'. Our entire focus was on that little girl and raising the funds to pay the doctors so that they would keep trying to save her life.

sometimes we all have problems in life and I experienced a similar thing to what you have recently gone through, and we all must think that lifes a bitch, however my problem had a happy conclusion and I truly hope little crikey's problems also had a happy conclusion.
I agree that people sometimes have problems that are beyond their control, however in my case the guy has continued trading, and on advice from ebay they have sent me through to paypal who has already escalated my issue to a claim.

Re: How to give feedback on a purchase where the archived purchase has no feedback button

having read all that and I am still none the wiser on how we are meant to buy with confidence from those sellers that ebay have applied the likes of super seller ratings, and it would be interesting to have a dud deal with a guy they have rated as a super seller then proceed to a more formal arbitatration legal hearing to decide who is responsible when buyers have been let down by buying from an ebay rated/approved super seller.

This is purely a hypothetical question and needs to be taken as such, but it shouldnt be dismissed as having no bearing on our dealings through ebay?
