Has anybody had any dealings with <removed>? He listed a musical instrument I wanted and stated that it was in Marulan, NSW. He tried to charge $40 in postage to Sydney but when I queried it he claimed that the item was actually in Europe and the $40 was the postage from there. When I objected and pointed out his listing said nothing about Europe I got a volley of abuse and ill-manners.
Has anybody else been taken in by this postage scam?

I'd be interested in looking at the listing in question before commenting further - can you put up the item title? (Naming and shaming is not allowed on the forum, hence why your post has been edited).

Not too sure on musical instruments, but I would not have thought $40.00 was overly exhorbitant given that it is a relatively large and potentially fragile item I would assume there would also be some packaging and handling expenses incurred as well as postage. check a postage calculator or contact a courier for a quote. $40 from europe sounds awful cheap to me..
Anyway not allowed to name and shame, but if item is stil listed it should be pretty easy to locate via postcode.

Thank you gutterpunch.
It was an alto recorder with F key, hence quite small, and it is still listed. I did check with Australia Post & the charge for a 500g satchel (advertised by the seller as the delivery) was quoted at less than $9.00. Another $5 for bubble wrap should have got it to me safely for about $15 tops.
I was taken by surprise as the item was described as being in Marulan, NSW, with no mention anywhere of Europe. If the seller is acting as a drop shipper, and had said so, I would not have objected.
Regardless of what might or might not be an overcharge, the misrepresentation and the volley of abuse was quite breathtaking.

Hi digital-ghost.
It was a recorder with F key, item No 121261209010.
Hope that helps.

It cost me around the $30 mark to post a 3/4 violin in case just within Australia (can't remember the State, but it was interstate,
but it was only about $10 to get my harmonica (including SOD), so I guess it depends on the size and weight of the instrument as to if it is overcharging.
I'd assume something like a sax or trumpet would cost more.
however I thiunk your main point is the item location has been misrepresented - that's a seperate issue and a bit naughty.
what sort of instrument was it?
