Has anyone else had trouble with this seller. Replacement never arrived. And I had closed the return. When seller asked me to, in order to send replacement

That was your mistake,you never close a case until you have it resolved and you never close it because the seller asks you to.
You can kiss the replacement goodbye.

I would call ebay and explain that you closed the case as the seller told you that was the only way you could get a replacement and ask if they will re-open it as you have received nothing. If they refuse log into your Paypal account and open an item not received dispute, escalate to a claim asap, you will probably be able to do it straight away.
In future never close a dispute until you have either your item or a full refund.
For item not receved it is usually better to go down the Paypal route straight away, ebay is best for not as described.
