Hello all,
Sale price: | AU $21.50 | ||
Postage & Handling: | Standard delivery AU $3.00 | ||
Seller: |
| ||
Seller Information: |
|
Have a rather strange problem here, l won a Bid on the 3rd Aug. for a 1915 Halfpenny Scarce Coin, after sending a question to the Seller within minutes of "winning", asking for clarification on the $3 Standard Postage. I asked does that include Tracking or Registered mail ?, l received no reply. Over the next 2 days, l have sent 5 email messages through ebay to the seller, to no avail.
Requesting Seller contact information from ebay, l was given a mobile phone number. Whenever l call it the person hangs up straight a way when l say who l am. In the Victorian on-line White Pages, there is no listing in the given area, for the Sellers name.
What l believe may be the problem, is that similar coins of this vintage and year here on ebay, have sold for much more than my "win".
Many have gone between $28 - $42 over the last couple of months. I feel or believe that the Seller is "not happy" with his/her ending selling price, and now has gone into "quiet or hiding" mode. I need to move on, l really need a coin of this type and year, need to re-bid on another coin, as this one looks like it is not coming to my coin collection. Lots of other nice coins to be with.
Have l covered all bases, if so, where do l go from here please ?
Kopes, you dabble in Aussie Coins, can you share your thoughts and knowledge with me what l do next ? thank you, or any other person who can help me out, please.
Called 1935hrs tonight, no answer now.

For that postage cost of $3 it would be sent as a letter so there would be no tracking and registered mail would cost more than $3.
From the seller's feeback it is easy to see that they go for the cheapest postage option...ordinary letter.
Have you paid for the coin?...if you have then wait until the expected delivery time is up before doing anything else.
If you haven't paid then do so.
Without tracking or registered mail the seller will have no proof of sending if it doesn't arrive and you will get your money refunded by Paypal.
I wouldn't be phoning the seller or sending endless emails...that would really annoy me...just pay for it and get the ball rolling.

The fact that you contacted the seller after you purchased to ask something that should have been asked prior to bidding could be why they have got cold feet and hope you don't pay so they don't have to post.
You knew that for $3 it was highly unlikely there would be any tracking. It is the seller who assumes the risk of using untracked delivery, no tracking, no seller protection so you should just have paid and then opened a dispute if you did not receive what you paid for.

Well, this is NOT THE UK ROYAL MAIL here, we have Aussie Post, (well, depending on what side of the planet YOU are on at the moment), unlike UK Mail, we can send a small envelope with AP Tracking for $3.00
That is the very point l was questioning, & NO, l did not "KNOW" at the time of Buying the coin, that $3 can or will cover Tracking. Please do not assume what l have said, or not said, it only makes an *ss out of you, not me.
If you wish to give accurate & solid advice on these boards, cut down on your Gin & Tonic, and you may do better next time.

Ouch!! I don't think PJ deserved that tirade.
PJ uses AP probably more than she uses Royal Mail as she only sells when she is in Australia.
What AP service gives tracking on a small envelope? All I know of is Registered mail and that is $3.10 on top of the actual postage.

Okay point taken lyndal1838, sorry PJ, .....But PJ did state in her comments to me, You knew that for $3 it was highly unlikely there would be any tracking.
My defence to her statement is that l did not know, that is the very thing l was questioning.
Sorry lyndal1838 & PJ, l am just a bit stressed out lately about people mis-interpreting or mis-understanding what l am saying.
Maybe l should sit down and have a Gin & Tonic, or an Scotch & Coke, and chill out.

Have both, it sounds like you need it!!! Hope it all works out for you. I've got a few predec coins, but I don't think I've got a 1915 Halfpenny.

Apology accepted Please do in future think about these things before you bid, I have absolutely no problem with sellers sending without tracking as I know I can get my money back if it goes pear shaped but you should never question a seller's delivery services or costs after an item has finished.
I need to change the gin thing, unfortunately due to health reasons G&T is almost a distant memory, can't imbibe my fav real ales either. Is it any wonder ebay defects, non payers et all don't cause me much stress?

"Thank You" PJ, and may l put out to the board, l am sorry to speak to PJ like l did, no matter what other issues there are in life, or are enforced upon us, we should try to show respect to others at all times. Even if we may not totally agree with their comment, or l my mis-understanding of their advice. Sorry PJ.
It takes a Braver soul to openly admit wrong & say "Sorry", than to say nothing at all. A pity some of our "Pollies" cannot follow my lead.
Yes, PJ, l need to read the obvious print: Standard Postage $3 (what did l think that l was getting for $3) a free Lunch ???
I will sit down now and have a Drink or two for you PJ. Cheers.
