hey everyone! so i bought an item in QLD australia off someone and they apparently "sent the item" but his telling me AusPost can only supply a tracking number in a few days? Is this true in QLD or is the seller just scamming me and telling me fibs cause as someone who's sold on Ebay before and provided buyers tracking numbers i've never heard of this i feel like i should bring this up with Ebay and talk to them opnions?

The tracking number is available immediately when something is sent. They're perhaps stalling for time because they haven't actually sent it yet. Or, they could have left the receipt at the post office and need to go back to find out what it was.

Does this eBayer have a selling history? Anything in their feedback indicate that other buyers have had issues with them?

Could be using a roadside mail service, yes they still exist

The sender will get a tracking number immediately if they purchase the postage on line via MyPost Business, but the tracking will only show "initiated".  When the item is handed across the counter at a Post Office it will be scanned and the tracking update to "in transit"

Alternatively, the sender may simply lodge an item across the counter and then immediately be given the tracking number.

Or the sender could believe that posting in a red box will guarantee a scan at some point before delivery.

Posting in a red box doesn't change the fact that the sender should have the tracking number already and be able to advise it to the buyer.

Thats why I think it is likely a roadside service is being used,  item and payment delivered to AP via contractor,  AP issue receipt and tracking to contractor who then conveys this to seller/sender on next delivery round.

There's also the possibility the seller is being factual - if Australia Post can't provide a tracking number for a few days but the item has been sent, that can also indicate the item is not in an Australia Post-labeled package, yet.

OP, where is your seller registered? This will appear on their feedback profile.
