Hello, I currrently waiting for an item that was supposed to be in Sydney but which I now believe is being posted from China.
Is that kind of false advertising legal and acceptable on Ebay and if not what can I do about it if it proves to be the case?
Thank you.

No, it is not acceptable. If the goods do arrive from China you can report the listing for misrepresenting Item Location.

A seller can live in one country but if the item is in a different one then they MUST state item location in the listing.
If the item is OS and if there is a problem and you are asked to return it then call ebay and fight it as the item location was misrepresented.

Item ocation is supposed to be Sydney NSW but the seller is in Hong Kong and the item should have arrived by now as it only takes a few days from Sydney, plus it has no tracking which is supicious.
I suspect foul play.

Have you asked the seller?
Make sure all comms is via ebay messages so if you need ebay to step in they can see what the seller has told you if they are lying about anything.

The reason I'm getting upset is if I had of ordered the product from an advertised Chinese seller I would have payed only half as much, I payed double for an Australian seller because stuff locally always arrives and stuff from China sometimes doesn't, I feel as though I've been scammed and I'm not happy.

As long as you paid with paypal you are protected if it does not arrive so you have not been scammed.
