I wonder what would happen if I purchased heaps of software at rock bottom prices from sellers in some other part of the world received it and then claimed it was counterfeit, smashed it and then continued using the software and get a refund.
If I sold a genuine product and you tried to claim it was not authentic I would be contacting the police and the program's owner! I would also back myself in a Paypal dispute lol.
There used to be a limit on the number of ebay protection claims you could make before it was replaced by Paypal buyer protection.

Recently I asked Paypal what happens if buyers make too many claims. Their response was that if buyers start to make too many claims then Paypal contact the buyer regarding the issues they are having.
I am not sure if they only take this action if buyers constantly make claims which they lose or whether it is based on all claims.
The reason I asked was because a buyer had put in a totally ridiculous claim which was ruled within my favour within hours of the claim being lodged. When I was speaking to Paypal I asked them if they did anything to stop buyers putting in frivoulous claims.

Just clarfiy
I have 1 Fraudnlt product (And Only One Ever) The remaining claims have been for Items Not Recived.
I have indeed Reported the Fake product to approite copyright owners & have verfied it is indeed a fake item.
No I dont buy products knowing they are fake The item was from a new Buyer that described as being in Australia but was actually from china & if knew that would never bought!
I almost suspect The limit screen i got may be just a fault with the Site Maybe?

Wow, you have been exceptionally unlucky. In the six years I have been using eBay I've only had a total of 2 "items not received".

Over the many years that I have been buying on line (not only eBay) I also had only handful of problems with items not received. Actually, there were only couple that never arrived, one I am sure the seller was very unhappy with the price and was never sent, one came after couple of months with stamp saying missorted to Nagasaki (the seller was in Sydney, I am in VIC), another also arrived weeks and weeks late, but there were couple that never got here. But for some reason the problems seem to happen all at once.
But i am sure that if somebody makes whole heap of claims within short period of time PP does look them, and if sellers would be reporting missing parcels to AP, they would also investigate any address that claims they do not get their mail.

No limits on the number of disputes raised with Paypal??
Paypal have just proved that wrong.
I have just had my account blocked - the reason - too many disputes.
Of all the disputes I've had - in total there were 8. Of these, 3 were for items not as described in that they were faulty/damaged or the incorrect size was sent, all of these items were sent back via registered post to the address advised by Paypal. The other 5 disputes were for items that were not received - 2 coming from China at a whopping total of $9.89. Of these items, 3 arrived, I immediately notified Paypal and case was closed. I also waited 4 weeks before opening the disputes to allow time for the items to arrive.
So much for buyer protection.
The person I spoke to at Paypal said I should do my research first - ah hello, how the heck am I supposed to know that the items I had been sent were faulty/not working. How can I force someone to send me the item I paid for.
In the 8 years I have used Paypal I had been pretty lucky with purchases I have made and also as a seller (never had a buyer lodged a dispute).
I have been told I cannot send/receive money, they refuse to remove my banking details or officially close my account, oh but they are happy for me to use their logo on my listings. Forget it Paypal.
What a joke!

Paypal have just proved that wrong.
I would be calling back, asking for a supervisor, and mentioning ombudsman.

There should be, do you just buy stuff that you know is fake and then get a refund?[quote mid="505088848"]
This comment made me laugh, I don't believe the buyer is deliberately buying goods that are fake. But is does go to show how many sellers on eBay are selling fake goods or gilding the lily to the point where their descriptions are misleading.
Do yourself a favor OP, avoid using eBay for for certain categories as there are other online auctioneers that actually have in house valuers who check the items before listing them. It gives the buyer far more confidence to bid.

Hi OP,
we have also asked PP what happens if there are repeated not received claims.
The answer we got from the supervisor is that after about 3 or 5 (they may judge each client separatelly) is that they ALWAYS report to police who in turn investigate everything.
They in turn speak to PO, to delivery people, inspect the house/building, look at the letterbox, look at the neighbourhood, look at the front door and visability from the street/passers by, sometimes even search the claimant's house and usually find the "missing" items especially from repeat offenders, those who make sure they always only buy from sellers that don't post with trackable means, makes for easy pickings - or so they think.
Also, PO is getting wised up (probably due to huge increase in non received items, lady from head office told us they now keep totally detailed records - different than what they used to do before - to inform the police accuratelly.
Hope this helps.
