Re: Is this account a scam?

Why do you think that ?

A store account with nearly 8000 feedback and only 2 negs.

Prices of their Japanese items seem reasonable.

Re: Is this account a scam?

I presume you're asking because some items are listed as antique and you want to know if they are genuine articles, or reproductions being passed off as antiques.

I expect few here would have the knowledge to determine that with certainty, though.

What I can say is that while no item titles appear in the feedback for their oldest feedback received as a seller, some of the comments mention dolls, so they have been selling in that category for years. They provide a lot of photos of different angles, including close-ups of cracked paint, wear and tear etc, on the statues - these are two positive indicators. A seller of fakes generally won't care about what they're selling, and will target what's popular at the time instead of trying to build a business around one type of thing, and even if they include a lot of photos, they typically won't include close-ups of damage.

Not all of their items are listed as antique or vintage, so it appears they are making an attempt to be clear about different items, and in one that is not listed as an antique, they have the line (emphasis mine) "The Japanese... mask was handcrafted to look hundreds of years old.", while in a different listing for an item marked as an antique, they provide a 50-year window for when it was made (the one I looked at said Meiji era, 1868-1912).

Are the prices in line with genuine antiques of this nature? Many sellers of fakes will price a little under the current market price(s) to draw people in.

None of these things positively determine whether the antiques are genuine, but to me they are a good sign.

Why not send the seller a question? See how they respond, do they try to sell you on the item, or do they simply provide you with relevant information?

I've actually bought from them before Kopes and had no problems at all with them.

Hmmmm, those singing bowls look a bit nice, better go and cut up my credit card, close the Paypal account and burn the lappy mate. true.gif

They've got their own Paccie Lappy in the Paccie Hilton Tippy, their taste tends to run to large bags of Paccie Mix from the local stockfeeds place.....................sigh.

I've actually got quite a few of those singing bowls, some picked up for a bargain on auctions so there's a few of my mates that have one now.

Dave, apparently they taste somewhere between lamb and venison, I haven't been able to get hold of any Paccie meat yet.

Spoiler
...............and no, mine aren't heading for the oven any time soon....................
