Here is one person destroying credibility of Google reviews for the sake of a few bucks. Disgusting.
And he says he is in business. (Shakes head)
I can't figure out how you could ensure you got anything-seems to me you pay $1 but you might not get anything back.
There doesn't seem to be a link anywhere to show what the seller's business is. How could you write much of a review without knowing a few details?
Most market research is paid for, or a lot of it is. You get paid to do surveys, usually. I collected a reasonable amount in the past from it. Mind you, about things I usually knew something about!! Even so, after a while you learnt that some questions would just keep you going forever (eg tick all the brands you have ever tried), so you learnt to just tick the top 3 or whatever.
There are often prizes offered for 'liking' a business on facebook or writing a review.
I would always take a review with a pinch of salt. Read carefully, see how genuine it sounds.

Check the feedback as a seller to see what business it is or was
But I think kopes is correct they will message you with the business they want feedback too.

Then he will message the business to review.
Once you leave a 5 star rating you get $6 in PayPal.
Bad way to go about it.
Why doesn't the seller email some real customers and ask if they would be willing to write a review?
A few years back my sister & I had an email like that from an estate agent who had acutioned our parents' house & we were only too happy to give him a glowing review for nothing.

Possibly a hijacked account and the account holder wouldn't have a clue until negative feedback started to
appear,(the account hasn't sold anything else for over a year).
The only items that they have bought have been more than 30 days ago.
