I just received a scam? phone call saying that I had been charged $300+ for an iPhone which would be dispatched within 24 hours.  If I did not place this order I was told to press #1 to speak to eBay customer service.  I then hung up, but if I proceeded I have no doubt I would have been asked to provide paypal, credit card or other information.   Please alert everyone to this scam.   By the way - I DID NOT BUY AN iPHONE!

I just got a call as well saying I purchased some item and to press 1 if you didn’t.   I could t help myself.   I was transferred to a scammer in India.   I asked her for her credit card details so I could buy a curry for dinner but she didn’t want to hand it over.

Hope you enjoyed your joke,  but the joke is on you, now they know it's a real number and you will get the opportunity to get curries many times a week, there is a sucker born each day, and some days multiples.

Hopefully they didn't hack your phone while you were talking to them.  You would be very wise to change all your passwords anyway............

I doubt it Sandy, a mate of mine got caught by it a month ago and is still trying to deal with the problems it caused -  and I mean MAJOR problems.

I had a friend that had their bank account drained.
Friend had a phone call saying re buying a phone on eBay.
Unfortunately, friend is not on eBay, nor on Facebook, and complied with all instructions.
Much money drained from friend's bank account to a new account set up to a bank in an entirely different state.

I just received a call saying the same as above, when I requested information about the payment method used for the transaction, he said I needed to log into something else to cancel, I told him would not unless he advised the payment method he hung up, SCAM.

Duh.

If you didn't buy the item, there is no need to engage with the caller.

If you didn't buy the item, then ipso facto, it is a scam.

Please be aware not that you have confirmed you are a 'live' number and a person willing to chat with scammers, this scammer will have spread the word to others

Don't be surprised if you get a lot more now

At least you did not press 1 like many others do, and find yourself in trouble
