..... I won an item in Victoria on Saturday 2nd March. (I am NSW)
Seller emailed me to request payment on Monday 4th March. (at that stage, i hadnt realised i had won it as I hadnt been on the internet over the weekend, and i had placed one bid on this item a few days before)
a tad suprised by the seller demands, but obliged and paid immediately via paypal on 4th March.
On Sunday, the 10th March, I noticed the item in my *purchased* history is still unmarked as posted... so i emailed seller and asked if they could tell me when they posted it as it wasnt marked as such. (i know that not everybody marks items as posted thropugh the ebay system, so I just wanted to double check)
She replies on the same day with appologies that she had her parents staying over, and she FORGOT to post my item!... then she says that Monday (yesterday) is a P/H, so she will post Tuesday (today).
Im like.... WTF!
Im really annoyed.
Im REALLY REALLY annoyed!
I opened an item not received case today. I know it will be posted, and i hope it will eventually arrive... but to simply *forget* to post, after 6 days of having my money, then im sorry, but case open it is!
(delivery handeling time-within 3 days of cleared payment)
Sorry.... just had to rant.
cheers...

Fair enough on all those things, thecatspjs. Was just curous as to whether I should try the immediate payment option for sales but like you have come across listings where I want to buy an item but need to amend the postage cost or get a combined cost.
So what seems to be a good effective payment time frame when listing one's own items? Is 7 days too long? What is the four day arrangement?

You can open a NPB dispute 4 days after an auction and close it 4 days later.

Is that where sellers are requesting payment within 3 days of auction end? It wouldn't work in my case where I allow up to 7 days to pay? I have thought about decreasing the time as I'd like to keep turning things over and quickly (I am a very sporadic seller and have only just recently started dipping my toe in selling items again)

Regardless of when sellers want to be paid by ebay gives buyers at least 4 days. I ask to be paid within 4 days and it works well for me.

We have never put in place the PAY straight away requirement, as I believe some may be put off by the process and the last thing we want is too discourage buyers. However oddly enough a very large amount of our buyers are 0 feedback first time customers, I mean everyone has to start somewhere. We only have the default block in place I believe I mean I have never altered them or changed them in any way, if they do not pay its an inconvenience but the dispute process is in place to help protect you financially at least, its a part of business. I often wonder how many of our 0 feeback buyers became our customers simply after someone else denied them the right to purchase, but were welcome at our store...and then once they are in the spider's web we never let them leave hahah

I would only use the immediate payment option if I was getting a lot of non paying buyers otherwise I think if you give a buyer a few days to pay they might buy something else from you.

I give 5 days in total. Unpaid item disputes are opened the minute it rolls over to day 6.
If buyers message me during the time the dispute is opened to seek extra time to pay, I have no problems at all with allowing reasonable additional time.
If NP buyers don't pay (or don't contact me regarding a payment arrangement) during the 4 day dispute period, then I leave a feedback comment, close the dispute and a strike is automatically issued.
In total my buyers never have anything less than 9 days after they purchased to make payment, or propose a mutually agreeable arrangement if they require longer than 9 days.

No, you just think I violate policy and you are wrong ๐
You also used to believe that leaving feedback negated a strike and thank goodness you have jumped off that bandwagon - you were wrong bout that too.

omg Phorum... are you foxy's mum??
Sorry I didn't reply sooner with an explanation. I was actually delivering meals on wheels to the den.
Apparently I gave birth to the Foxy one when I was 12, I seemed to have been so traumatised by this that I have absolutely no memory of it. Anyway the tale is a bit obscure after that but as far as we have managed to work it out she was meant to be adopted by a rich American but on the boat over she was shipwrecked and taken in by some eskimos, from there she somehow landed in Africa where she became an African child bride at the age of 12. Sometime after that she was rescued and ended up being adopted in Australia.
A few years ago she decided to trace her real mother and so we were reunited thanks to the fact that on my trips to Australia I started to sell on ebay and she recognised a kindred spirit.
I have been unable to refute this story as neither of us can afford a DNA test so for now I have to accept my belated responsibilities and travel down once every couple of weeks with ready cooked meals for her and the cubs.
๐ That is priceless. Now i understand her refferrence to *african bride child* to me earlier...LOL
Thanx for explaining it to me. I dont get on here much anymore, so i miss out on all the good stuff LOL :-x

You have left negative comments with positive points. You've tried to make them pleasant and innocent looking but that is what they are - you can't fool me. You'll find out that you are wrong if any of them are removed.
