Leave Negative for Global Shipping Program

The whole GSP (Global Shipping Program) is a typical eBay abortion.

I think the easy way to send a message to eBay US Sellers who use GSP is to leave them Negative Feedback when an item doesn't arrive which was shipped using GSP.

Unfair against the Seller you say....well it sure is, however I email them first and advise what I'm doing and why.

Most understand and simply Opt-Out of the GSP, or has been the more common result they deal with you direct.

Ebay are just SO DUMB, they can't run anything right and will now lose even more customers and $$$$$.

Thanks eBay, but the US Seller and I have just concluded a transaction outside eBay on the same items your GSP said couldn't be shipped to Australia (which of course was wrong as chainsaws are perfectly legal in Australia) you MUPPETS

Re: Leave Negative for Global Shipping Program

Just wanted to add another voice to the growing chorus of members having extremely negative experiences with Ebay's GSP and Pitney Bowes. I recently had a rare and valuable old motorcycle part held at the GSP processing facility in Kentucky. It was then classified as "restricted" and not sent. My item was then disposed of without any notification or consultation with myself or the seller.

I was notified and refunded well after the item was sent for disposal.

Seriously appalling customer service from both ebay and Pitney Bowes followed. This GSP is seriously flawed and Ebay seems totally

unwilling to do anything about it. The lack of respect and honesty demonstrated here was breathtaking.

I will never use the GSP again and would advise other members to do the same.

Re: Leave Negative for Global Shipping Program

You bought a fuel tank.

There's no way that was ever getting here.

They won't ship anything that once held fuel.

Apparently even the fumes scare the poor blighters.

Please do. Including the boards. That way you won't drag up old threads.

Yes, I agree. Don't forget to close your account. Show eBay you mean business. I can guarantee though, that this thread will be rehashed in 3 years time and you'll still be buying. I always laugh at buyers who carry on, threatening to leave. They never do. All talk, no action. Prove me wrong, just this once.

Absolutely brilliant post!!

Your first time on the ebay boards and you have broken the rules already.

You are not allowed to advocate action against ebay or associated entities.

Re: Leave Negative for Global Shipping Program

I tell any seller that use the GSP and why.. if you want to continue using the GSP and lose money ?? up to you

@lyndal1838 wrote:

The negative feedback will probably be removed as the seller can prove that the goods were shipped.

And Pitney Bowes are quite within their rights to refuse to ship any goods that they decide will cause problems, whether the goods are legal to be shipped to Australia or not.

They will not ship knives of any description.

@feyt

the thing is, and you'd know this if you read the threads about the GSP, many USA and UK sellers dont even know what the GSP is.  They were opted-in to using it and the first many know about it is when their item is won/bought by an overseas buyer or when an overseas buyer contacts them (as you do).

You see, eBay introduced the GSP so that those many millions of USA sellers who were excluding overseas bidders/buyers, such as yourself, were opted-in to sending domestically within the USA . . . thus fulfilling their shipping obligations AND getting seller protection in the process.

For USA sellers, they ship to Pitney Bowes, in the USA, and it is PB who handle all the international aspects of shipping overseas (like customs declarations, import fees/charges etc).

YOUR MESSAGE wouldn't mean a thing to a seller who doesnt want to be selling to overseas buyers.  In fact, the fact that their items are available to overseas bidders means that in some cases overseas bidders bid up the price of an item that sells domestically within the USA.  So it wouldn't bother them if an overseas buyer doesn't bid/buy as they don't want you to anyway, and they certainly aren't losing money because of the GSP.

Best you can do is politely message them and ask if they would consider using USPS. This would not work for auction items with bids when you message them as they can't change the shipping once a bid is made.

Re: Leave Negative for Global Shipping Program

I've been reading this message board with interest and horror! Thank you to all for the insightful (if alarming) contributions.

My package to Australia, via GSP, was "delivered" 2 days ago, to my PO box.
Of course, it's not there, nor would anyone be at 0531 to receive it as the tracking information suggests.

After reading this thread, and another one on Ebay Communities, I sent Pitney Bowes a message to find out who my package was handed off to here in Oz so I could chase them up. Still awaiting a response.

Then I wondered where else it would be left if the courier did not deliver to the Post Office...and subsequently rang the newsagent over the road, who contract as a courier drop-off point. Sure enough, this morning my package arrived at the newsagent! No way I could know that, no way they could know to contact me, not even sure what contact details appear on the package. If I hadn't guessed correctly my order would sit and gather dust until returned to sender or thrown out.

I will avoid GSP in future, but also now know to use a non-Post Office delivery address for them.

* As for anyone advocating negative feedback for sellers using GSP when a problem with delivery arises, I find that mentality rather disturbing and would urge anyone considering that option reconsider. I contacted the seller and while she was of little help she fulfilled her end of the deal. She subtly suggested I had stolen it initially, but I clarified my position and stated I only wanted to know from her who I needed to communicate with in tracking my package, as I didn't know who GSP was until I read this message board. If the seller is unhelpful or abusive, the package never arrives (& you take steps to find its whereabouts), or the package finally arrives with damaged goods due to poor packing, then you're well within your rights to leave Neg feedback & seek recompense. Otherwise I feel it unethical to do so based on end-of-line delivery service performance.

I suggested my seller use USPS only in future as my 15 years experience in shipping many hundreds of packages from the USA to Oz, via many different methods and forwarders, has shown me they now run a superior delivery service and I very rarely (if ever, these days) have issues.

As a seller myself receiving unwarranted Neg feedback is disheartening and frustrating. If you want to get your point across, contact the seller and tell them you will not buy from them again if they continue using GSP; if your item eventually arrives then I suggest you leave NEUTRAL feedback with a statement regarding the GSP service, not Neg.

If the seller is using the GSP they are protected against neutrals and negs, so if the shipping method is mentioned in the feedback it will be removed, I think that even if you mention slow shipping it will be removed as well.
