Leaving feedback after dispute

Hi Everyone,

I just want to ask some advice on dealing with a seller and leaving feedback.

The back story is I do have some vision problems and I tend to rely a lot on verbal descriptions left by sellers.  I recently bought three dresses, if you can see my purchases they are orange, brown and purple sold by one seller.  Two were described as being in an as new condition and only worn once while the other one was described as being in a very good condition.

When the parcel arrived at my workplace address I opened the parcel in front of a two work colleagues.  Both commented on the staining that was visible even to me upon looking at the dresses in person and then when I showed them the listings said they could see the staining, that with my vision difficulties had thought were shadows, in the original listing photos. One of the dresses was also described in the listing with an incorrect brand name.  That dress also seemed to have mould like crusted stains on it.

I contacted the seller saying I was a bit disappointed, politely described each dress with the damage as I wanted to talk about returning the dresses even though it meant I’d be out about $12 for the return postage, which I accepted.  This was within 1.5hours of Australia Post saying they had delivered the parcel to my building. I received an answer from the seller telling me I was offensive, not to ever contact them again and that I was abhorrent.  When I replied again and attached the photo she uploaded with the damage visible and mentioned the brand name difference  the seller replied that the dresses were sent in pristine condition and that I must have damaged them and she wanted them back to see how much damage I had done before she would consider if any refund was given.  She stated that the brand name she gave was for a website that she got a different brand name dress on and that it was okay to give the website as the brand name on ebay instead of the brand name on the article of clothing itself.

I at first lodged a dispute with paypal which I upgraded to a claim as I don’t want to be out the return postage and registered post fee along with the money I paid.  From my understanding if they decide in my favour I will have the money I paid reimbursed to me once I provide proof of return postage and I advised the seller that I have lodged the claim so they could participate in the claim process however I’ve since received messages telling me to seek professional help, that I am a disgrace and a con artist, that my behaviour is disgusting,  I obviously don’t have any intelligence and need to get a grown up to explain things to me, that I am blackmailing her and so on.  I’ve also been told to return the dresses to an address in a different state from the one ebay says they were sent from.

Paypal is now reviewing the case as the seller has not participated in the claim.  If I do get my money refunded I was going to leave neutral feedback because the situation is resolved but should I be giving negative feedback due to the incorrect listing of clothing that is badly stained as being in as new condition and for the nasty emails? Should I be reporting the emails or not? I want to do the right thing, I’ve tried to do the right thing by getting her involved with the claims process, being willing to pay the cost of return postage but some of the emails she has sent me have me rather shaken with the sheer nastiness.

So sorry you have been treated badly by the seller.

(A)   wait for the paypal resolution - if they tell you you are to return the items - and they will tell you the address to return them - you must return them by a trackable method to the exact address given.

(B) no-one has to put up the abusive emails - use the ebay message system button  REPORT THIS MESSAGE for any emails that are abusive.

(C)  put the seller on your blocked buyer list.    One day you might be selling something and you don't want to leave yourself open to this person.    Also make sure you have ticked the part in seller preferences - block emails from buyers on my blocked list.

(D)  there is plenty of time to leave feedback.   Wait until after resolution, particularly if paypal decide to refund you.   When leaving feedback, regardless of what colour, ding her stars for communication.

Let us know what happens!   Smiley Happy

I have to let you know, this is not the seller I am having problems with. This is another seller.

I bought a couple of dresses for my daughter at the same time.

Ahh okay.

In that case, we are unable to find the listing via your ID as it appears they haven't as yet left you any feedback. You might like to post the item number here so that we can take a look at the listing description. It's possible to find a sellers past sales when there's been no feedback left, but not a buyers purchases.

Thank you to all who have answered.

I just want to say that the seller who sold me the dresses was not the one whose listing was identified in one of the posts above. That seller  is someone who seems extremely nice when I contacted her.  She seemed to have sold more than the seller I am dealing with.  I also had my husband check all pictures before bidding, and thought I'd bid as I'd promised my daughter three dresses, one being purple. I won't let one bad seller make me leave ebay as there are too many nice ones that I've met.

The seller who has been nasty has just, apparently, refunded my money according to ebay and I will go check on paypal to see what is happening there.

Her listings described the dresses as

Listing 1. Worn once. In as new condition. Origami brand exclusive to Myer. Bright orange. Lovely layered chiffon detail in the front."

This one had visible staining which I've been told can be seen in the photo but the listing said it was in as new condition.

Listing 2. Lovely girls dress By Origami exclusive to Myer. Worn once. In very good condition. Sunray pleated tiers.

This one had visible staining which I've been told can be seen in the photo.  I've also been told that the dress appears blue in the picture but I purchased it as a brown dress, which it is.

Listing 3. beautiful girls party dress. Bought for ......  graduation night and never worn again. In as new condition. Embossed taffeta. Size 10

This is the one listed as Brand: Party girl but came with what appears to be spots of crusted mold on it, with a label of LY and all the other tags in chinese.  The buyer told me she bought it from a website called party girl and used that as the brand name instead of LY.

I will go check what is happening as .

Item No. 261610164485, 261610160740, 261610155337.

If you have a look at the listing for the orange chiffon and the brown dress (the picture I've been told looks more blue than brown) apparently the staining can be seen in the picture which is probably why I got them at a lower price than I was bidding up to.  No one else would bid

It wasn't a high cost I paid but more the principal of the matter, the fact she did not state the truth in her descriptions and then insisted the dresses be returned in pristine, as new, condition before she would discuss any refund as she needed to see the damage she said I had done to the dresses.  I accept I will be out on return postage, it will teach me to get someone to check a listings photos first and not rely on the description, but it was annoying.  I've dealt with so many great sellers on ebay.

Yes, I can see the stains in the orange chiffon.. looks like greasy food spots. Might have only been worn once but doubt it was washed before listing. Odd because she has included a second photo with a close up of the area the stains are in, but claims the dress is in as new condition.

Fabric colour looks more watermelon/pinkish than orange.

The brown dress (showing as blue) is even worse for stains

Okay, well my eyes must be shot, because the brown dress looks white to me, perhaps a blueish white at a stretch, but brown? Nowhere near. I can see the stains on that dress, but then it helps that I knew to look for them. There is nothing in the typed descriptions that would lead me to suspect any of them might be stained or ripped.

It also doesn't help that the photos are all sideways. It appears the seller hasn't figured out how to rotate their pictures, which is a pretty simple & basic thing to do.

I've no experience in recent years on what can & can't be said in leaving negative feedback, so I leave it for others here to help you with that, as it does no good if your comments get removed for breaching the fb rules.

But definitely report the seller, their conduct is inexcusable and unacceptable.... & would still be so, even if as it transpired the items did sufficiently fit the descriptions to beat a INAD claim (which they don't imo)

You're not wrong! It looks like somebody was wearing it while changing their car's engine oil.

There wasn't a chance in hell that Paypal would have rejected the OP's claim after seeing that.

I guess her idea of 'as new' & mine differ somewhat. Also, when I list an item that has a fault or damage I go to considerable lengths to describe it warts & all and to ensure I've done everything I can to draw the buyers attention to it.

Tbh I try to avoid listing damaged/flawed items wherever possible, as I've found my listings in those cases often becoming too lopsided, & taking on the look of being a listing for a blemish/flaw that just happened to have an item attached.

This is my most recent listing for an item/s with damage, which I think had a fair balance/emphasis on both the good & bad >> 231340493176
