Oh my!

I've never seen a mobile phone like that before.

How on earth can you call that a mobile phone?

What do I think?

I think I am very pleased that I used your search criteria.....the very first phone that appeared is exactly what I am looking for.

I presume I am supposed to be outraged at some of the novelty phones that came up in the search?

Sorry, while they are not to my taste, I can just ignore them or report them if I want to.  I don't feel the need to create a thread on the boards to draw more attention to them.

The old, broken and "for parts" phones are to be expected in a search such as yours.

OUTRAGEOUS how on earth can ebay allow us to be subjected to listings for Mature wrap Tyre bags  when searching for a mobile phone.

I don't know about ebay phones but I have a senior phone direct from Telstra - only cost $40;   nice big buttons, and I can put it on loudspeaker because I'm a bit deaf, even has a little torch light.

Brand please curraone....the one on ebay is ideal but rather more than $40.

I think the price may also reflect the fact that it is unlocked.

Lyndal I bought it a few years ago from Telstra while they were offering a special on prepaid mobiles.    I don't know if you can still get it, but it has been a very handy phone for us old people.

It was a Telstra T203:

The Telstra Easy Call 2 has big buttons and large number display for easy dialling. Features a programmable Switch key on the back which when activated sends an SMS to five numbers and calls one number.
Includes easy to use messaging, FM radio and a built in torch. The Switch key, FM radio and torch are all selected by individual buttons for easy access.

Main features:

  • Blue tick compliant for excellent RF coverage
  • Programmable Switch key function, single key to dial and send an SMS
  • FM Radio and torch switches
  • Speakerphone
  • Predictive text and built in dictionary for easy SMS
  • Colour display with large characters

Re: Mobile phone with large buttons for an older person.

I saw a large button "dumb" phone in, I think, the Aust Post catalogue a couple of months ago. It wasn't a lot to buy either. I certainly wouldn't be paying any more than $40 for one outright for a prepaid when their current catalogue has smart phones for under $50 (yum cha brands, but even so). I'll have a hunt around and see if I can find it.

Re: Mobile phone with large buttons for an older person.

I really don't need a large button phone....not yet anyway....but I don't want or need a smart phone with all the bells and whistles.

I have a great little Nokia that does all I need it to do but it is only 2G and Optus tells me I have to replace it by next April.  It is a super little phone....compact and light but sturdy enough to withstand a hurricane.

The cheaper phones that are around now look like prizes in a cornflakes packet....complete garbage.
