I can't believe what has just happened!!! More on the Verification Code dilemma, the numbers actually read 143690, I got my other half here to help me "listen" as best as we could to the verification code, and we were both sure (after a few times of listening) it said 747359, so I typed in the number it had "said", and low and behold, it let me send it to the seller!!! What is going on here??? It's just crazy!!!

Thanks Crikey for your kind response.
Dave, you are just lucky I am not an agressive person. Trying to do this by myself I may have thought perhaps I am doing something wrong, but to accuse my husband of also being wrong, I don't think so. I would happily accept if this was so, but it is not, so please come up with some other response of I need glasses, or just don't reply at all..... I can only state what has happend for us tonight. From someone who has only 20 feedback, I retract my offence, obviously you are not are regular on here.
The only thing you can do is refresh or listen to the code and I have never chosen to listen to it so maybe when you click on listen it also refreshes it at the same time but doesn't refresh the number you are seeing.
I have no experience with the listening bit so that is just my guess on what might have happened.

For somebody who is obviously not a regular on the boards I would offer the following -
feedback on an ID is not necessarily a reflection of a member's experience.
if you care to do a search you will find I am a regular (prolific even) contributor to these boards.
This ID is not my selling ID, where I have more feedback than you do. On your Travis ID, at least.
Play the information, not the poster.

Lol I-once-was-a-bump, I actually find this very comical, because I and my hubby actually "listened" to the verification code and it was truely very different to what was written there, and when I inputted what was verbalised, it was accepted, so I know that we both couldn't be wrong. The message actually went through when I put in the verbal code, not the written code. Keep insulting Dave because I'm really not going to bite back, I know what was written and what was said and what was accepted. My question was if Ebay had a glitch in tonights system and if anyone else was experiencing it???

Travis for what its worth, don't take it personally the behaviour is displayed on regular on basis and I don't like it either.
Ebay is notorious for the most ludicrous, frustrating glitches. Based on my extensive experience of those, I don't doubt you for one second that the code that was displayed did not match up to the code that was read out. I am surprised other "experienced" posters have any doubts as they too are aware of the glitchy system.

seller blocked me saying he didn't deal with buyers under 10 FB.
Gee that is tough, we all had to start at zero, even that seller.
I always like it when a zero feedback buyer buys their first item from me.
It was, but I was on 4 FB by then, but it had also happened to me earlier when I was making my first purchase. They had three items I wanted to bid on. I waited until the last seconds after watching them for a week, went to bid - and I was blocked! so I missed that item. didn't have time for phone verification before the next one went off, but got it in time for the third one, so i got to bid and win.
It's a shame, because no one else bid on the first two items, so they passed in without sale, and I missed out on being able to combine post, but only spent about $40 instead of the $140 that I was trying to.
But it's OK - I guess I understand because the non payers do my head in too.

Based on MY experience, a simple refresh will bring up a code that is accepted. It seems a no-brainer to me, which would be perfect for most eBayers, it seems.

Well I am offended by both your offences so settle down, and yes two people can be wrong, (just think prime minister and treasurer).
:^O:^O:^O:^O:^O:^O:^O
Sorry I couldn't resist but don't forget it isn't reportable because I have used smilies.
Note I have quoted the smileys, so they count for me too...
I'll give ya $5 to go and post that on CS
ROFL
Just to make sure - a couple more won't hurt...

Thanks Cats and Crikey, I am an experienced ebayer given my feedback, I don't hide behind a seller AND buyer account, but I don't often frequent these boards as I don't always experience that many problems, but when I do I don't expect people to jump down my throat like Dave. Thanks for your understanding to those that understand that ebay do experience some sort of glitches, not those that need glasses!!! (and once again, this post is defintely not aggressive 🙂 ) Have a good night everybody 🙂
