My Friend Claims all fake

Hi Ebay Buyers, Just wondering if anyone else has purchased several so called genuine Rings and have found them to be all fake?  My Friend is a gemologist and claims that all of the genuine gemstone rings i have actually purchased through buy it now, are indeed all fake?

I would love to hear from others experiences, Thank you regards from Mari

You shouldn't  make comments on something you know nothing about.  I live in a remote area and the postage cost reflects the amount of fuel for the 4 hour return trip on a dirt road just to mail them.  Then I could factor in the wear and tear on the vehicle as well.  Not to mention the fact that I would I have to beg someone to do it for me as I am disabled.  And,  just in case you were wondering, those same wonderful people I would ask to post them for me actually deliver supplies to me on a monthly basis. Given that fact alone, there's no way it could have been done in the time frame Paypal gave me anyway.

Not everyone lives in a city or town!

As for the research, before I purchased the items I received reply emails from the sellers stating that they stand by the listings that all are "solid " gold and "genuine" diamonds. So, Iike so many others I tried my luck on receiving a genuine article as described.

Before you think this was a gullible choice, I remember years ago when I lived in Sydney, a friend of mine found a near new Mercedes listed for an extremely low price. After emailing the seller, thinking it was a typo, he discovered that the woman's hubby was having an affair and she thought it was a good idea to sell his beloved car. It wasn't for the money obviously but the payback value. Bottom line was my friend got a near new Merc for next to nothing. People do luck out occasionally and there are genuine sellers out there.

Unfortunately for me, Paypal was uninterested in my correspondence with the sellers, the email from Ebay, and the item location stated as Australia not China where they were sent  from. If the listing had been China I wouldn't have made the purchase. The email address was for a woman living in QLD. This scam had been well thought out and actioned.

What sort of message are we giving these sellers if they have the fake jewellery returned to re-sell again to another unsuspecting buyer? Paypal has been inundated with claims for these fakes and they should authorise the refunds, have the items turned over to them, and file a complaint with  the AFP Internet Fraud Division. Given the vast amount of items it would be safe to assume that something may actually be done about it.

The way it's all going down at the moment, nothing will be done to stop these sellers and Paypal is alienating the people who keep them in business.

Hi phase3ho,

as I read your OP I could have told you the names of the sellers. They are part of a gang who have been selling this rubbish for 2 years or more. They manipulate the feedback of their sellers - Just like another gang who sell FAKE gold chains.

Please mail me if you would like more info and who to be on the lookout for.

That's a very discriminating remark georgiajake2010, and you should be ashamed of yourself!! Being disabled doesn't make a person inadequate as a human being. It's none of your business if I sell items or not on Ebay. I will be reporting you for that comment. It might shock you to know that I now have a brilliant case for defamation. You'll be hearing from my lawyer shortly!!

Thanks

Unfortunately that is against ebay policy, you are allowed to add a reasonable amount to cover the time it takes to prepare the item for posting, you are not allowed to add the cost of actually posting it, that should be added into the item price.

Hmm......I have no idea what that last comment is about. I'm not charging anyone $40.00 postage and I'm certainly not breaking any rules. I'm simply stating the true cost for me to return the items to China (as asked by Paypal) in order to receive my refund for the fake items. This would be more than the total amount required to be refunded. In other words it's not worth it.

Read the post again.

Re: My Friend Claims all fake

I'm a pensioner and can't afford to lose the money but that doesn't concern PayPal at all

Why should Paypal be concerned with the way you earn your money?

There would be a lot of employed people up in arms if Paypal started playing favourites with pensioners.

ebay is not the place to try the  "i'm a pensioner" nonsense, it might work with a few tradesmen but on the internet it falls flat and most are unimpressed by the "woe is me" attitude of any posters.

I am glad that (even though you are doing it so tough and only get supplies once a month and are so far from a town or city that) you are able to avail yourself of a lawyer and be able to afford a civil case.

phase3ho, apologies for all the negativity.  It seems to be a habit on these boards unfortunately,

and this will shortly be proven by more replies criticising me for saying so.  Although I do hope

to be proven wrong.
