My Friend Claims all fake

Hi Ebay Buyers, Just wondering if anyone else has purchased several so called genuine Rings and have found them to be all fake?  My Friend is a gemologist and claims that all of the genuine gemstone rings i have actually purchased through buy it now, are indeed all fake?

I would love to hear from others experiences, Thank you regards from Mari

Re: My Friend Claims all fake

Hi there,

please could you email me a list of the fake sellers. I have been looking for Victorian rings on line, and managed to get a refund from one dodgy seller, who claimed item was solid gold, but replied to my emailed question, that it was actually "gold filled" and offered me a refund.

Today I have made another ring purchase, but havent paid yet, as I emailed the seller with the same question, and havent heard back yet.

Kind regards Charmaine

Well not all the time.

I make jewellery, I buy rose quartz for very cheap (for example).  I see certain brand rose quartz bracelets in the shop for silly amounts of money.

Honestly, if you want gemstone jewellery google china websites.  Generally thats where its all made anyway...

I hope you don't expect your last few Sterling Silver purchases to be genuine ?

Why do people buy for 99c and think it's the real deal ? Or do they buy on purpose so they can do charge backs seeing most of these Chinese Sellers will refund rather then argue .

Charmaine, don't be too dismissive of Gold Filled Victorian jewellery...some of it is very valuable.  Most of it is nothing like the modern GF jewellery which has a very very thin layer of gold.  A genuine Victorian GF piece will usually have a very very thick layer of gold.

Also, white gold is very uncommon in jewellery before 1900...it is much more likely to be a modern reproduction if it is white gold.

I suggest you have your recent silver purchases tested too....you have bought from one seller who is suspected of selling fakes.

phase3ho didn't you notice the quote in italics from your statement that you include the cost of the petrol for going to the PO in you postage quote?

That was what I was responding to as it most certainly is against ebay policy.

Those who deliberately/premeditatedly list FAKE SILVER/GOLD jewellery, and lots of it - you don't expect them to tell you the truth, do you? They are LIARS and THIEVES.

There are those who do not know that they are listing fake stuff, but they are few and far between.

phase3ho was talking about what it costs her to return the item to the seller and when all costs are added up it isn't worth it to get a small refund.
