My PayPal says I have a balance.

Why does PayPal account say I have a balance. I thought it was linked to my bank account

Because you have money in your Paypal account. Maybe you sold something. Or got a refund for something. Why is it an issue - you can withdraw to your attached bank account whenever you choose.

Thanks for your response. I purchased an item and when I tried to pay immediately after it said payment pending and it stated my PayPal balance which wasn't enough to cover the transaction. An e cheque was then done. Yes I received a refund recently. How do I withdraw to my attached bank account?

Read Paypal's instructions.

Or click on 'Withdraw'.

Or just leave the money there for your next purchase. Which will mean you won't have to wait a week for the payment to clear before the seller posts.

The e-cheque will only be for the balance of the transaction which is not covered by the amount in your paypal account.   You should find that there is nothing in there now.
